Dear Sir, my name is Prince General Field Marshal Osayomwanbor Adekunle. My precious money is blocked by bad government. I will sincerely send you $17,000,000 (SEVENTEEN MILLION DOLLARS) and you can keep 10 percent ($1,700,000). My cousin will pick up the rest.
Anyways, just send me $3.50 to cover the costs, Sir.
Best wishes, Mr. Prince General Field Marshal Osayomwanbor Adekunle
P.S. Sorry you got scammed :( You could totally involve law enforcement in this. The most difficult part is explaining the nature of virtual items etc.

Yeah business with that guy smelled fishyyy.
Sorry I had to make that joke.
And sorry about what happened. :(

Look at it this way - you lost a csgo skin you had won.
Cheap lesson ... could've been cheaper but still. 1. There simply is no safety for private sellers in paypal,
even if that bum had sent you the money, he could've retrieved it months later. 2. CSGO = full of scammers

Don't want you to get suspended or anything, so probably best to remove the names, and post with the names to SteamRep or wherever scammers are being posted?
Anyhow, too bad to hear that. :( I got scammed a few months ago of my Killing Floor 2 that I paid 15€ for, and I felt like shit. Hope it gets back to you.
Also, why are houses so expensive there? :o Don't mean to disrespect but that house doesn't really look like it's worth that much money, and it's not cheap. Where I live, for 200k$ you can get pretty much the house of your dreams. Your salaries etc. are higher but just seems to much, imo.

$1mil AUD
Really?! Is it that expensive there or is the australian coin just worthless? My parents just got a new house for 60.000 euro that looked way better then that (no offense, I wish I could afford to move out, even if it was just a shitty house with very little room....)
Comment has been collapsed.
yea it's pretty expensive. random 2015 article
govt's mean decreasing the cash rate(interest rate) cash rate changes. this reduces interest rates on loans, encouraging ppl to buy more etc.
cant remember much economics from high school but below (if it makes any sense lol)
The exchange rate channel is one way in which interest rates affect demand. Lower interest rates contribute to an exchange rate depreciation by reducing returns to, and hence the demand for, domestic assets relative to foreign currency‑denominated assets. A depreciation increases the prices of foreign products relative to domestic products. This leads to a switching of demand towards domestically produced goods and services. (A lower exchange rate also leads directly to an increase in import prices.)
source
decreased rates>increase loans+spending>increase demand for AUD>increases higher price of currency
This increase in demand for Australian dollars results in a higher ‘price’ of the currency, in
other words, an appreciation of the exchange rate. source
yea idk i blame the government.

Sounds about right. I studied bussiness economics for one year (then I quit) and this is one of the first things we learned. Just out of curiosity: if you were to take the same amount of money to the say the US and then exchange it. Could you then buy a similar house, or are houses in Australia also relativly more expensive?
Comment has been collapsed.
not too sure about US house prices but im guessing the US house would be much better.
i guess it varies based on location, land size, house size, personal preference, transport availability, distance to work/study, etc
currently the house i bought needs fixing up before i can actually rent it out to people e.g. bathroom, kitchen, new paint etc just to make it seem decent to live in

i guess for any country if you dont mind living away from everyone else and away from the coast you can get houses for cheap XD

I kinda wanna be like 'you shoulda seen that coming!', but on the other hand I'm really fucking mad about that fishy guy. Some pathetic kid trying to scam people for csgo items. I wanna beat him up so bad.
Also contact Steam Support man and send them the evidence. There has to be a way to give him a trade ban at least!
Comment has been collapsed.
Also hit up the guys who made the giveaway and give that guy some exposure for scamming you.

And you didn't realize something was off when someone's name is FISHYYY?! :)
I don't get why that item would be worth more than a buck, but then again i don't play cs:cancer.
Also the house looks like a bad deal. Just sayin. Be happy you didn't go through with it.

Sorry that you got scammed, and I know you probably have his profile linked to help others avoid/report him, but putting his profile here is calling out and is against site rules. You should probably take that part down, don't want to get banned on this site also :c Thanks for the gives, also.

"Use the appropriate avenues for support. If you have an issue with another user, submit a ticket with a user report, rather than calling them out within the community or on the forum."
I'd interpret it as a grey area as the other person is not necessarily a user of the site and there really isn't an appropriate avenue for support. But point taken.

I just tweeted this out and mass messaged my 84 steam buddies only a matter of time until justice is served

No no no thank you for providing the info and proof to help rid steam of trade scammers
Sometimes a lot of good can come from terrible misfortune

Thats why really poor people are happy , nobody can take awat anything from someone that has nothing.
Sorry about the scam, at least you learned a lesson with something that was free to you.

Poor is a relative concept. So it depends if someone doesn't have anything to lose then i guess nobody can take something from them..

Well, you have the type and the last four digits of his credit card, now you just need to find out his name and address and you can try to politely ask support to "recover" your account :P
Jokes aside, sorry it happened to you.

I'm sorry :C
but yeah, that was a bad move, next time better ask advice on reddit /r/GlobalOffensiveTrade

help appreciated.
edit : steamrep thread changed to evidence provided :D
took over a month.....finally have my knife back.
today, randomly looking through my twitter feed saw a tweet about retweeting to winning 1 of 5 cs:go knives. there were already about 76k retweets so my chances were pretty slim and my retweet was pretty much within the last 30minutes. (thank the rng gods)
anyway i won a sapphire bayonet (noticed when my email suddenly received a whole bunch of mail saying ppl liked a tweet i was mentioned in.)
http://screenshots.metjm.net/a4edea451910a62b0a6a50da3ad7aacc.jpg
the things is i don't really play cs:go (i have 14hrs lol) so i decided to try and sell it to someone who would appreciate it more than me. found out it was worth around $1200-$1350. so i'm like hell yea. money i can put forward to good use.
anyway found a guy who offered me $1250. sceptical at first ( and i shulda stayed suspicious) but eventually he offered to throw in a well worn knife.
at the time i was also on the train (even missed my stop lmao) so i didnt take as many precautions as i should of. honestly i'm such a dumbass and was over excited. i didnt notice he had just edited his paypal balance. there wasn't even a fucking dollar sign next to it
feast your eyes on this shit. yes imma joke. read it and you'll all be like wtf is wrong with you.
