It's one of the best selles every day on Steam probably the same or more than a AAA exclusivity deal since they pay "expected sales" the free game would lost due to being free

That fortnite cash pile is huge enough for Epic to attempt this...

I dunno, it has sold so much that in a way, "everybody has it already." Again, you can often get it for under $15. Some people prefer $0, so it may make sense to do this now. It isn't free forever, either. Besides, the "internal" economy is way more important. Rockstar may just want more active players currently. Their future is not GTA5 anyways, it's GTA6.

i dont see anything wrong with it. Gta v is big title and many people can miss it. Also all other freebies on steam uplay & gog have seperate threads.

not a chance, it can be rockstar launcer or epic which doesnt mean exclusive.

Or, it's just the industry that's getting bigger, and Steam continues to be the biggest player for a good while, at least.

I don't think Valve is taking hits at all from all of this but instead, it's going stronger than ever.

1- GTAV has 50m users on steam, so it won't affect Valve if like 5~10m more people own it on EGS if not effecting R* more because of all the hackers who will get their hands on it for free and ruining the online experience more than it's already is.
2- Epic starting/strongest year (2019) made them earn $30m from EGS in revenue, not counting how much they spend on exclusives
3- CSGO had a lot of other competitors tho out the years (it's from 2012) and so far it's going great and it's going source 2 soon, that might attract new people... So I would worry about it that much
4- Valve doesn't have a PR game so for cod:mww it's doesn't affect them IMO

According to Valve, steam 2019 revenues were an all-time high for the company and 2019 wasn't that great TBH.
So IMO 2020 is going to be even greater for steam with how much they open now to the community to improve steam and with so many great games coming this year plus don't forget how many companies returning to steam like EA, Microsoft, Bethesda, Sony, ETC...
