Well, today i added a "trader" on steam, and offered him my Duke Nukem forever key for the witcher.. i saw he haves a good rep on his profile so i trusted him.. and gived him the serial, but my little friend just deleted me.. and "the witcher" never appeared. This is the "trader", i feel really stupid right now.. removed. Please, if you cant report him, i will really apprecite it.. (as you can see, he is having my duke nukem forever activated..)

Thanks for all your help, i will learn from my mistakes, and i hope his profile goes down.. i am so angry :/..

Hey! You scammed me a copy of Dark Souls, as you can see, you got it activated. Actually, did you? No, you did not. But it's that easy to say such things without proofs.

You've got much to learn, my friend...
First, remove the link. You can't "call out users" on SteamGifts.
Now, I hope you have any proof of the trade. Like your chat or trade history. Then head to SteamRep and fill out a report.

if you can proof that you bought the key, you could contact Steam support and have them remove the game from the scammer's library ... no guaranty though ;)

+1, i got my a game key released from my own account, i'm sure they'll help in case of a scam!
Though steam dislikes people trading keys in first place, so i'm not too sure now.

Never go first with keys if he doesn't have good rep at Steamrep. I have went first with key but just because the other gut had all possitive reputation there (around 20-30) and had no problems. But with other guys I traded keys I never went first. Not worth losing good stuff to noob.

True, but if it was a one-time occurrence that he is avoiding in the future it really doesn't help to keep harping on it either

For the majority of people that break rules like that it's only a one time occurrence until they get caught doing it, I'd bet money if he would have won more games he probably would have regifted again. ;)

Quite possibly. Just seems a shame to tar everybody with the same proverbial brush - there has to be some people out there whose learning curve isn't flat. Hopefully.

^ What FogFrog said. I'm sick of seeing people here going all up in arms and brandishing their pitchforks and torches because of some infraction that was committed in ignorance and has long been dealt with by the people whose job it is to actually deal with it, i.e., support. It's not just in this thread, I've seen it many times over, this is just the latest example. For the record, the first thing I did when I stumbled upon this site was read the FAQ, because I couldn't grasp what was going on - people giving away games for free seemed to good to be true. But it's more than understandable when somebody doesn't, we all know this site could use a usability overhaul or three. But never mind that this alleged crime happened weeks ago, the OP shows remorse and doesn't seem likely to do it again, it's seen as a free pass for everyone to hurl rocks at the evildoer.

But it doesn't end there, does it? The poor guy got scammed and you folk have the nerve to call it "karma" or some kind of bull like that. It's a bit like saying, "I saw you stealing a stick of chewing gum, so I'm glad you lost a limb in that accident." Nobody deserves to be scammed like that. (As for actual scammers, they'll be dealt what they are due one way or the other, in this community or somewhere else).

[/ end rant]

As someone else pointed out before, ignorance is no excuse and it's internet 101 that the first thing you do when you go on any new site (especially those that have forums or in particular one such as this that involves winning stuff) is to familiarize yourself with how things work & the rules. While I agree the site could certainly use an overhaul with respect to certain aspects of its usability or presentation, again, that is no acceptable excuse. It takes 2 seconds to find the forums and barely more time than that to create a post to ask any question you might have.

Also, the infraction in question has clearly not long since been dealt with because if you check his account it is now suspended. Just because it happened a month or more ago it doesn't absolve one of responsibility or mean that it should just be overlooked or simply swept under the rug. The response from the support team validates that. There are tens of thousands of users on this site and it neither practical nor feasible for them to check that gifts are properly redeemed (as per the rules). That being the case, to a certain degree the system relies upon reports from users to keep people honest.

If the support staff already addressed the issue then fair enough, no sense having 'double jeopardy'. Something tells me it was not the support staff though because they most likely would have deleted your XIII giveaway after the fact so that you wouldn't get credit for it.

He asked a question, I answered it. Maybe you should have taken your own advice to heart, minded your own business, and moved on? Gotta love the people on here who want to cry foul and act butthurt over every little thing that's even remotely controversial.

Since you asked: FAQ/Rules and Guidelines

  • The submitter and winner(s) of the giveaway have seven (7) days to complete the gifting process. This includes the activation of the gift on the Steam account of the winner.

  • Google Translate: La persona que envió el sorteo y el ganador tendrá siete días para completar el proceso de la presente. Esto incluye la activación de esta cuenta de Steam en el ganador.

Note: Apparently the Spanish translated FAQ is missing this very important rule. But that's still not an excuse for anyone who breaks this rule.

I really think the excuse of "months ago" and that it hasn't happened since is a fair one... I thought regifting would be a weird thing to do so I never even tried, that said I don't even enter contests for content that I don't want for either myself or my partner so I wouldn't want to regift anything as that is low. HOWEVER, if he hasn't done it since reading the rules I see no issue other than whiny rude tools who want to condemn someone and pretend to have a righteous reason in doing so.

What kind of help are you expecting? Report functions are in place for single entries. You report the guy, guess what? They are going to look into it anyway. Fifty other randoms doing the same without having all the facts is going to do absolutely nothing but convolute the whole matter
