DCUO is a pretty fun one.

City of Heroes is better IMO than both Champions and DCUO.

Well you don't really have to grind if you do the quests, though having a membership and a good startup combat level is a definite plus...
I had a lot of fun doing the quests, but got bored soon after, as they'd nerfed a lot of the most fun features such as the wildy back then (which is now back, I believe, along with many fun minigames and shiz)

Played that game excessively for about 3 years.
With a good community beside you and people to play and talk with it can be really fun!

You want MMOs or free to play titles? Most MMOs are grindy timesinks sadly, but I'd recommend you to try out APB: Reloaded. It was a blast from what I've played but it's turning messy overtime.

I gave up on free MMOS...they are all gay. And you will never succeed in any of them except you spent a lot of cash in their item shops.

Well FireFall for instance only has stuff like hats that you can buy for real cash (at least for now)

Now:
Maplestory, Dungeon Fighter Online, Dragon Nest, Vindictus, Fallen Earth, Guild Wars 1 (30dollars for complete set).

Future:
Guild Wars 2 (pay once 60 dollars), Planetside 2, Phantasy Star Online 2,

Edit: Now: Dungeons and Dragons Online Champions Online, City of Heroes (going ftp soon) and I think Aion has a ftp version now.

I've played the FTP version of aion, the only thing you use cash on is costumes and pets.
Everything else can be acquired with ingame currency.

I personally enjoy Vindictus a lot. Besides we've got the Extreme version in Europe. A very well-made game for being F2P. It's instance-based though (read: it has missions) rather than being a huge sandbox. It helps the story flow though.

Spiral Knights. While you may not like the game itself, it's one of very few free MMO where you simply can't pay2win. Putting cash into it will just make things faster and that's it. As for DLC, it simply adds few missions. Don't want to buy? Ignore. Don't even start with "I have to pay for DLC? It's not free MMO!!!" please.

I think hackers is a problem of the past there. There are some, sure, but they're not as many as it used to be. Maple has changed a lot over the last few years.

tibia : D

Comment has been collapsed.

sadly nowadays tibia sucks...
oh.. wait.. old times tibia also sucks!!
(still have one of the best quest systems... but the game itself...meh)
(before somebody get to kill me, tibia really has rpg quests, even that nobody plays it like that... you can go to a dungeon.. find a book... through it go explore a dungeon in a city X... find a tip... and only then get the reward...)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Lol tibia? Quests? there are just like 50 quests. Lol!! Tibia is pure PVP, is one of the intense PVP games! ever ... xD
Why? Cause when you kill someone, he drops hes backpack filled with loot, pieces of set, and if he is lvl 100+ he get back like 4levels xD, they are spamming you, "YOU ARE HUNTED" "YOU ARE DEAD" "GIVE ME MY ITEMS"

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah.,.. part of what you've said is correct: the pvp part.
community in that game sucks (i've played it like 11 years ago).
However, yes.. the game has quests. It may have very little quests ppl know, as has confirmed by cipsoft itself, however the game is full of detais and yes... quests.
the problem is: nobody get the books of the game to read... to decipher... blablabla, because it's just easier to grind and go explore all the caves. once you do not need to know what u are looking for.
i had a group of 10+ friends trying to decipher the beholders book of hellgate... we know that lead to a quest that apparently nobody knew.
well... that the only bright side of the game... otherwise, yes it sucks.

Comment has been collapsed.

Yep, tibia community sucks, noobs are always asking for money-items, high levels never help, not even if you only ask a question, they think they are some kind of gods, and they can kill you if they want. Also a lot of thiefs, boters, hackers, and a Pay to win system. If you don't have premium you can't do anything.
I play a few years the game, like from 2005-2008 got once. Waste of Time.

Lord of the Rings Online is a great game! The Content is free and there's some stuff you "CAN" pay for, but you can also earn points in game to pay for the same things without money, think of it as a "pay if you want" or you spend achievement points on the exact same things you can even get the $30 expansion for free this way, and it's LOTR which means lots of fun storyline and locations similar to those in the films as well as the books.
