Games in indie bundles. Also by "at all" you probably mean altogether.

Changed that, thx.
Well, if only those games are meant, the system is broken even before it started. People paying decent prices for their bundles get punished and people saving a shi*load of money on SS, WS, sales in general aren´t touched at all.
Strange system...
There should be only one thing:
Contributor [ ] Yes [ ] No
That´s it.

Looks like that list also have the games that were in the summer sale indie bundles (Q.U.B.E, Vessel, etc.).

I made an Amnesia giveaway a while ago and now I won't get any contributor value even though it was bought from Steam :P
Oh well.

Yeah, apparently I'm getting hit with the same thing. The games I gave away were not bundle keys, but apparently they were in bundles at some point, because my new contributor credit currently claims to be $0. :( Since I didn't give away bundle keys, I don't think I should be affected by this change. I'm very disappointed and discouraged right now, and hope that this will be modified before the change takes effect.

Most indie bundle promotions have minimum values, if only to prevent total cheapskates paying a single cent; in my opinion, it's necessary. Even then, paying the minimum value comes down to a 90+ percent of a discount in most cases.
My idea was to exclude anything that has a set price and especially the ones sold on Steam. How anyone can consider adding Max Payne bundle into that list is beyond me, even if it was just two quid fifty just a week ago.
If anything I could've added "comes as separate Steam keys" at the end of that sentence, but here comes Humble Indie Bundle, storming in the room to stand as the proud exception to this rule; and those bundle keys have already been exploited due to their low price, as was commented in another thread.

Sure there are exploiters. There always are. Everywhere. To everything.
But this whole discussion comes down to one simple fact i hate about modern society: Punish hard, even the ones who did nothing, at least we punished to ones who deserved it.
Personally i paid 2 times 18,50$ and once 25$ for my bundles, so it´s kind of fair i think. Looking at the average price of those bundles made me sad. Sure, it´s a nice opportunity for people with few money, but seeing the price makes me wonder if the whole world is broke. Paying 5-6$ for 8 games and on the other hand throwing away 100$ at the club. It´s just so... hyppocrite.
I do see the need for "some" solution, just not the one actually offered.
Yes or no, those are the only options that should be visible in contributor status.
Why add Max Payne to the list? Well that´s easy: it was in a (warning, bad thing incoming!!) bundle, Max Payne Collection and you got more epeen status out of it than you actually paid, which is, seeing the actual pursue of this fact, a very very bad thing and should be punished.
Saved a buck?! Put him/her to 0,00!

Yeah, Max Payne bundle is a real issue on this site. Those 4 public giveaways during the whole week of sales caused a real tidal wave in people's contributor values.
God I wish I could put into words all that overflowing sarcasm I feel right now.
One is supposed to not separate Steam keys from bundles. They're for personal use. If you want to gift it, get a gift bundle. But people don't care. People do it anyway. So it needs to be discouraged. By any means necessary.
Why do people exploit this stuff? Probably for the same reason you feel you're punished. "E-peen" or whatnot. Newsflash - you are not punished in any way. Sure, in your particular case, your contribution value hits zero. That's called being inconvenienced, not punished. Just give away anything from the Steam store, any DLC worth a buck and you're set. Problem solved. Moving on.

Well, not really since the oh so friendly "gifters" often want to be among themselves, giving away things to people giving away something too. It´s just no logical.
If i create a giveaway for people that contributed for 100$, where is the logic in that?
"Hey, you can win something from me, but only if you would be able to buy it for yourself! Too bad if you are just a person with almost no money to spare, you can´t win anything from me, because i only give away to people as "rich" as myself."
That´s why i mentioned this: The value shouldn´t be representative, only the fact contributor or not. Nothing more.

Let´s face it, even if you call it arguing or whatever: The aim is to make a fair value of contributor values that is "more real" than the one shown right now because a lot of people "cheated" their way into higher regions to be able to enter better giveaways.
So far so strange.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gift
A gift or a present is the transfer of something without the expectation of payment. Although gift-giving might involve an expectation of reciprocity, a gift is meant to be free. In many human societies, the act of mutually exchanging money, goods, etc. may contribute to social cohesion. Economists have elaborated the economics of gift-giving into the notion of a gift economy. By extension the term gift can refer to anything that makes the other happier or less sad, especially as a favor, including forgiveness and kindness.
Hmm...
So where is that still gifting?
It´s the contributors setting values to their "gifts" that are wrong, not the people gifting bundlestuff.
You give something away to make people happy, no matter if they "deserve" it or not. THAT is gifting.

@ OP:
The term "bundle games" here does NOT include games that were featured in fixed-price Steam bundles.
On the other hand, it also includes keys that were given away en masse by the devs.
...come to think of it, Indie Royale shouldn't be counted here. Because it has a halfway-decent price floor, usually around $5 or more. Can't exploit it by paying only $1 or less.

Indeed.
There are some sales on amazon or gmg and others that make you save more than these keys, but they aren´t counted. So even if i can see the reason behind the whole system, it´s far from ideal.
I mean, there are people WANTING games like The Void and spending 10 hours or more in it, enjoing their time and there are people wanting some random shooter and playing it till the credits and only spent 5 hours on it to get there.
So the person playing The Void had "more" fun playing a game than the other one, still, the one giving away The Void gets nothing but a "thx" from the receiver (which is nice and even gives you new friends on Steam - a good thing!) and the other gets eg 50$ contributor value.
As said before: there simply is NO way of being fair to everyone.
Personally i would never add contributor value to any giveaway i will make. Why? Because gifting should be without any thoughts behind it at all!

The new system might or might not be coming so i ask myself:
What games are considered bundle-games?
Clearly the indiebundle stuff and all those games are part of it.
But what about Max Payne 1&2? They were (are?) in a bundle.
Batman Arkham City was too on SS.
Fallout(s) were.
Square Enix games were.
Many more AAA titles from the last years were too.
Maybe not this summer but before. On wintersale and previous summersales.
People saved up to 82% in buying them (at least in Germany, no clue of savings in other countries).
What about those giveaways?
Set them to 0,00$ too?
Don´t set them back?
I mean: 82% savings, that´s like too much to allow people to be given "epeen points" for the complete "real" value, right?
But hey, seen lots of giveaways of some of those games included in some of those bundles.
Punish them!
Punish them as hard as you punish and pursue bundlers, since they are bundlers too!
Yeah well anyway, do what you want, it´s your site. Whatever you do, it won´t be a fitting solution unless you get rid of the contributor system altogether!
So long,
AmmokK
