twice but they were a long time ago
one was because I replied something to a suicidal thread, can't remember
second time I necro'd a thread where a key was ninja'd months ago and pointed out that the key was already taken
maybe there was a third time, I'm not sure
edit: yeah, there was a third time:
I was banned for this sentence: "Instead of the ignore feature I tag some users with a pink colored "fa**ot". Works for me." The bad word wasn't censored in the original post

Please don't hate me. I was young and fool. I thought that, by doing that, I would be cool and girls would like me more. I was wrong. :'(

That's my gripe i got suspended this weekend for callng out, whenever someone says "check sgtools" or "welcome to the site and check the rules please", thus implying someone has broken a rule it's all good and people won't get suspended, i still stand that suspensions all happen on the whim of a mod and some always get away with it, especially until there is a clear set of rules in some documentation.
Then when a mod eventually will use swear swords, but since it's happen "outside" sg (because you can't even take it inside, as some support will just ignore you and pass it on to someone else) it's all acceptable.

yeah, that's always annoying. it's not that i didn't deserve it, but i certainly didn't deserve it while others got to get away with it that were right there doing the exact same thing in a even more direct way. mine was a vague referral to whom i was speaking about whereas the other two people were direct and named them. but since i used a spoiler to hide the vagueness instead of just simply stating it outright i guess it caught their attention more then the others.

I was told to just send in a ticket about those people that did not get suspended but until this weekend we all know alot of tickets would takes months or years to get a reply to..
In my personal opinion there are certain support members here that just seem to get more of a kick to suspend those that are "calling out" then those that really broken rules, and that's a shame.

well it's also very poorly worded in the first place.
If you have an issue with another user, submit a ticket with a user report, rather than calling them out within the community or on the forum.
according to that i'm allowed to call anyone out for anything i like as long as i don't have an issue with that user. i obviously know that's not what was meant when that was typed up, but if this were a court system i'd win.

I mostly think support do a good job in the circumstances - but with regards to 'no calling out' I'm less than impressed with punishments and their consistency.
I've now been called out on multiple occasions by worthless sacks of crap for 'blacklisting people for no reason' and that appears to be fine while I've bit my tongue about them being trade scammers, sharing puzzle links, breaking rules, etc for fear of getting into trouble myself.
I told my cousin about this site and he decided to start off by making a nice giveaway and he took so much abuse for making a 'fake giveaway' that he never came back. The ringleader of that bullshit never got suspended and I've seen him being just as hostile to new users since then without crossing whatever arbitrary line has been drawn.
It's a whole pile of hogshit. Some can lie to get other users into trouble and that is fine. Some can tell the truth but apparently some things need to be kept secret.

It was over a year ago, probably closer to two. Even if I took the trouble to find it and a certain clever git actually did get a few days suspension for it then it wouldn't teach them anything at this stage - or make any difference to anybody else. It's something I should just shut up about and forget except on sometimes I have a drink and then I tend to get a bit bitter and type shite when I should know better. I'm really trying to do it far less often...

The only place I was ever suspended was a shady ebay rip off in wich I posted ads like "Slightly used mans erotic lingerie" and "Will make you three kids for five euro or half a bottle of booze and one bread". I went straight to permaban in four days.

400 wins and 0 sent is nothing against the rules, and shouldn't be so, it might be lame, but that's another thing.
There is something to say about people saying they been scammed, also because there isn't always clear proof or people being impersonated, i can see the protection there.
Having not activated wins and when you can't even tell if someone has been suspended for it before, there is something to say about that.
Instead of some differences being made it's all dumped on 1 pile.

Support goes about suspending people that broken the rules, that's what it is about.
People blacklisting would go on a whim of any member, noone is forcing to blacklist such person, nor has that person actually broken a rule, and people will always blacklist regardless anyway.
Just as in any political discussion, and so many other issues while some get suspended and other don't, and there is no clear set of documentation on what is and what isn't allowed, it all happens on the whim of a mod, it is a crapshoot and will stay that way.
There is no telling if someone that didn't activate something 6 months ago got suspended or not, is it still useful to send in a ticket or not? Sometimes there is a bit too much protection against those that actually broken the rules.
Same discussion with the Hitler profiles going on.

anything that draws negative attention to people is considered calling out.
There are many ways to draw negative attention to people without publicly disclosing private information about their wrongdoing.
Example:
"look at his 400 wins and 0 sent games"
There is no wrongdoing involved, here, as a person's ratio is irrelevant with regard to following the site rules. Just because a text does not constitute "calling out," however, that does not preclude it from rising to the level of "inappropriate behavior." Context and verbiage is taken into account when determining whether or not "the line" has been crossed.

Calling Out (AKA "Outing"):
Public disclosure of someone else's private information through the forum or discussion sections of SteamGifts with the result of highlighting said information to negative effect. The most common example of this is that of revealing past wrongdoing.
[In layman's terms: "Airing someone's dirty laundry in public."]

So a while back somebody started a topic about me 'blacklisting them for no reason' and I don't recall anybody being punished. Presumably that was a public disclosure of private information - that is something that would have been private information between me and the user had it not been publicly disclosed. And presumably it was done with the intent of highlighting said information to negative effect - the accusation was not only inaccurate but got me a lot of blacklists and abuse (both here on steamgifts and also offsite). I'm not complaining, just interested in clarification on that one...
Edit: I had the link handy for that one; https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/cEwwR/blacklisted-by-someone-you-have-never-met-or-dealt-with The user later edited me out of the original post but that was long after I'd explained myself and still taken a lot of shit for things I hadn't done. I wouldn't make a post like that for fear of breaking the rules - how do other people get away with it? Although to be fair I was pretty rude to some of the replies and probably I was lucky to get away with not being suspended myself...

You are asking for my response to an hypothetical situation (of me stumbling across the original post), and I won't go there. One thing I can point out is what you already know. Blacklists are not inherently good or bad. Some people attach value to them, one way or the other, based upon personal feelings, so discussion of blacklists is a "grey area" from every angle.
You feel that you have suffered harm, but I suspect your situation has actually improved while that of your accuser has deteriorated. I suggest you accept the moral victory and move on.

None but my resident SG stalkers are so trying to get me suspended because they have already been suspended for breaking SG rules and they can't handle it! :3

I've never been suspended form this site, but I was banned from SGtools for sneaking into giveaways that the SO was sending me links to without actually going to redeem myself. Didn't know this would get me banned, SO tried to cover for me with a bad lie and they said "lol nope". But it seems I have been unbanned recently, they must not roll over on a new year or something.

Once. CG removed it, reason is quite funny: "Suspension removed. Controversial viewpoints are not a valid reason for a suspension."
