My Country is region restricted, What could I do?

I've decided to create my first giveaway but I didn't know my country was region restricted. So after the winner was chosen I was going to send the gift and got surprised when I discovered the issue.

The winner is being really supportive and I did send the gift anyway, but we aren't sure about what to do now.
Any suggestions?

It happened to me as a winner, the game was unexpectedly region locked. I sent the gift back to the giver and told him it is okay to delete the giveaway, he didn't know it was restricted and the steam store didn't say so. He made a support ticket and support removed the GA because of the region lock.

well, if he had a region locked game, he had to do a region locked ga :S he can also delete the ga via support

Well, since I am region locked, I believe i'ts impossible to buy any game without it. If you know how please let me know

I offered him an item so he could sell it and buy the game without the region lock but he refused.

You'd better make a support ticket to to delete the giveaway (or give the winner a copy that isn;t region locked if you can). and remember to choose the region when you send a region-locked gift next time.

  1. Ask the winner if they'll return the RL copy of the game to you.
  2. Try to acquire a ROW copy of the game to gift to them as a replacement.
  3. If you can't acquire a ROW copy, ask the winner if they're okay with deleting the giveaway.

And don't be afraid of 3rd option - if the winner is not an asshole, then he won't have anything against. And you're also not losing anything (apart from 1 giveaway slot which shouldn't matter)

That's cool. I think most people would agree to deleting the giveaway in that case, especially if you're nice about it :)
