My budget is $100. I want to get some model of Nvidia Geforce GPUs. I want to know if it's better to buy a new one or if buying a refurbished one will be fine. Also I would like to know what you all would suggest. Thank you for your time.
Edit 1: After initial responses, some people have said to save more money rather than buying now. I am not going to consider that to be an option. So I guess the most important thing I need to know is whether or not buying a refurbished gpu is my best option. It would be much appreciated if someone were to give me more detailed information regarding refurbished computer parts. Thank you for your time.
Edit 2: Something else that would be nice to know is what the hell are CUDA cores? Thank you for your time.

What GPU you will buy, and what Resolution, setting, games, you will play?

  1. I don't know what to buy yet.
  2. 1920x1080 with the highest settings I can manage.
  3. My cpu is an AMD FX 6300 6 core, 16 gb of RAM, I'm running Windows 8.1, and my current gpu that I will be replacing is a Nvidia GT 630. I built this pc myself. it was my first time and I think I underspent on my gpu which is why I'm replacing it.

You will not make much of an upgrade with $100, in my opinion. As most people already stated, you should save for a better VGA mostly because you got a nice CPU and good amount of RAM. It's unfortunate you aren't considering this.

New one, always. If you want an Nvidia GPU at that price point get a GTX 750, you should be able to find one, the AMD R7 260x is also good at that price point and might me slightly cheaper.

Please, don't waste your money on a $100 GPU. I suggest keeping that money and save some more so you can buy a real GPU for gaming.

Basically this. I would wait until you can get a GTX 970.

Save your money until you can afford better than low tier cards.

If you don't want to save your money, used HD 7950 goes for ~$100. People have started to sell their AMD cards when the crypto mining rush has gone down.

I'll suggest waiting for the GTX960 to come out. Then trying to get one the cards that people will be replacing with it. I'm guessing a good amount of 2nd-hand GTX660s, GTX670s, GTX760s, HD7870s, HD7950s and R9 270s will be available.
If you really must get a lowish-budget NVidia right now, I'd say go for a GTX750Ti.

just go to:
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php

list them by price and look for the highest passmark (benchmark) in your price range.

good luck
