From PCGamer...
"Gears 5 is temporarily free on both the Windows Store and Steam, meaning you can probably complete the campaign and dabble in multiplayer without spending a cent. The offer runs until April 12".

Edit: Changed the title to stop "misleading' people thinking it's a free game.

Misleading title. Should change it to Free Play Weekend.

Agreed.

We SG people only care about permanently free games that we wont play. Not temporarily free games.

Wednesday isn't quite in the weekend, is it? And I specified in the tittle that is free until April 12.

Leave out the weekend and change the title to "Free-to-play until April 12" otherwise people will think it's free to keep.

I did it. :)

Yes, but the way the title is worded may lead people to believe that it's free to keep. Not free weekend to try it out.

Seems like a rather trivial concern to stick with a title that's at least an order of magnitude more misleading. ( ͝° ͜ʖ͡°)

It's free-to-play until April 12. There is a fundamental difference in English.

Nah, but here is some unnecessary info for you: the place I'm working at split us all into three groups due to corona shenanigans; you rest for 8 days and get paid 50% less and then you work for 4 days for 10 hours per day. It's not perfect, but it's a better alternative than laying off a big number of employees. Some factories are even closed for 2 months so we're doing good, all things considered

10 hours per day

kinda... weird, isn't it? you stay home for 8 long days but then 4 "long" days. i mean why not the usual 5 days for 8 hours?

We're working in lesser capacity during those 4 days )fewer people) to minimize the risk of infections

that's also because of coronavirus? never heard of this kind of cycle, interesting. also, here (but guessing it's the same for xarabas), when you stay home, you get paid by government (you usually start get paid at 80% of hourly salary).

Glad you are still able to work, though those can be some long hours especially in a factory. Definitely better than laying off everyone as you said. I do hope that 50% less is you are bringing in 50% of your overall monthly income and not half your hourly pay for those 40 hours.

I got 2 blacklists for this thread, it's probably easy to spot from whom.. It's irrelevant, but still want to point out that I was in a hurry when I remembered I saw the news on the PC Gamer page. Still allocated time to post it so people get to download it as soon as they can. The original title misled some to believe it's a free to keep game. Even if my wording was misleading, after you follow the Steam link, you see that you can play it for 5 days and that's enough to finish easily the campaign and avoid the problematic multiplayer. Is it for the few seconds you lost to find this out or the "big disappointment" that it's not free to keep? It's still a free gift, appreciate it,
