Soooo... the Fallout franchise is up to 50% off on Steam and on the Humble Store (bonus here, you can now add 5% of your purchase to your wallet)... and that got me thinking. Could there be a bundle on the way? One that includes Fallout 4, since other games from the franchise have already been bundled?

Do you think there's going to be a bundle that includes Fallout 4 content soon?

But there was a Fallout "bundle" 9 months ago on Bundle Stars (Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, New Vegas Ultimate Edition and 3 GOTY)

Price: $20.39

Lowest ever for each game: $3.61 + $3.61 + $4.59 = $11.81

Which kinda tells a lot about their pricing policy :D

Yeah, but the New Vegas Ultimate Edition lowest price was in 2013, and Fallout 3 GOTY in 2012 (according to ITAD).
So, waaay a long time ago XD

Both Fallouts were getting that discount almost every summer and winter sale. Until Bethesda decided that it's too good for us and decreased discount. For relatively old games. As for dates you mentioned, ITAD shows me that Fallout 3 had last -75% in 2014. Didn't check New Vegas.
Do you find it normal when a price for the DIGITAL copy of SINGLE-PLAYER game rises with time and there is no rareness or availability factor included?

P.S. Excuse me if I sound like complaining too much, but this is how Bethesda is pricing their games since 2014 (+- some time, I don't remember particular moment). -66% is max for full edition of any of their games (it was so during summer sale), no matter how old and bugged it is. I find it ridiculous :/

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope, I don't find it normal at all. And don't worry, those things bug me too (Edit: It happens to me with The Sims games, the digital copy on the Origin store is worth the same as the physical copy), I put the example of the season pass because, comparing it with the Rise of the Tomb Raider one (30$, for 70$ content) i too find it really expensive.

I think Skyrim Legendary, when it was a sub, got 75% for the first time on December 2015, and maybe once again later.

But yeah, in general, Bethesda pricing is horrid. Specially the new pricing for Brazilians since Fallout 4, where $60 become R$230, so their conversion is even higher than our currency ratio. Greedy bastards.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Wow, I actually looked at it and the brazilian price is 9% more (32'68€) than the european price(29'99), which is also almost 9% more than the USA one (27'94€). And in Russia, you can get it now for the equivalent of 14'50€.

Bethesda pricing isn't 'horrid', it's just priced at what people will pay.

For some reason, people fawn like mad over their Gamebryo games and have this strange attachment to their attempts at Fallout, so why not milk them?

Although seeing that their Season Pass' normal price is 50$ (with 70$ worth of contents!) and its reviews, I should have already gotten the clue xDDD

actually - yes fo4 could be in a bundle... but it'd be ~$30+ BTAA side of the bundle....

That's just a franchise/publisher sale and only a bundle in that it combines multiple items in one purchase. It's not a bundle in the Humble Bundle/Indie Gala/ Whoeverelse sense of the word.

That's just Bundle Stars throwing together some games they sell as a package that aint exactly cheap, a lot of their 'bundles' are like that.

Yeah, but i got them cheaper individually in store sales. That's not what I would consider bundled, sorry.

yeah... Bethesda bundle :D: and then we'll get Humble Rockstar Bundle :D:

jokes aside - not gonna happen, bethesda has their own pricing policy and it's been shown over a years that all their games follow it and it does not include bundling their games. The "Fallout" bundle you mentioned was not really a bundle - it was sale of a Fallout collection but for definetelly not a bundle price - afair it costed like 21EUR or more.

Considering the rate at which Fallout 4 still sells, Bethesda really does not have much of an incentive of putting it in a bundle yet. If Bethesda does a bundle, it won't be with Fallout 4 in it (unless they have like a 30€+ tier).

They could make "Bethesda Old Shit" bundle,. with Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 12T, FO3, NV and Skyrim, all without DLC :P

I could see them having Fallout Tactics & Fallout 1 in the bottom tier, together with DRM-free versions of Daggerfall & Arena (dosbox included and configured). Who cares of Daggerfall & Arena have been free for a long time? ;)

I would not mind if they did an old stuff bundle and re-released SkyNet & Future Shock at the same time. Heard good things about those two games. But that would mean that they would have to get the Terminator licence back, and that might be too much to ask for.

Future Shock was awesome. The best Terminator game ever. I would love to see a remake of that in a current engine and without loading screens.

I'm scared that they might try to give us Fallout/Fallout 2 remake one day... On new engine in 3d xD

And I don't really understand their pricing policy - why F1, 2 and Tactics. I have them on cd (which I bought with gaming magazine for 2e couple of years ago) and drm free versions on GOG. I'm not sure why they ask 20e for them.. OK maybe F1 and 2 are actually the best fallouts but they are quite outdated now - my eyes are bleading for couple of hours when I start to play them again xD

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

because on sale the classic fallout package (1, 2 & tactics) still garners $6

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, people still buy those games at that price, so it does not make a whole lot of sense for them to lower the prices too much. When Fallout is not in the public mind in the same way it is now, it will make more sense for them to have steeper discounts, but with Fallout 4 still getting a lot of media attention, some of that will trickle down to the classics.
And it was not Bethesda, but Interplay that gave the game away for free on GOG.

I personally have no issues with the graphics in Fallout 1, 2 & tactics, but the interface could be better...

FO3 was kinda-remake of FO1 and FO2 - lots of elements from first games were used in FO3 - just like in FO1 you were looking for some magical Water Thingie, while whole Enclave's motivations were copy-paste from FO2.

I really hope that you aren't talking about me, since I've played the game for about 4 hours or so on the PS4 and about 2 hours on PC. The game was lacking in every department for me. Weak story (except for the backstories of companions), dated graphics, no actual moral choices, no real dialogue options and bare-bones roleplaying. You have to either play Jesus or that dick in the gas station.
Now, compare that to New Vegas or the first/second game... funny thing is that they weren't really even made by Bethesda.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

like i said, for me it was perfect.
it has a lot of backstory, characters, npcs, exploration and options. spent 400 hours and didn't even finish exploring the whole map or play dlc. previous games didn't even have 50% of the content f4 offers.

It's not that funny - notbeing a cookie-cutter bethesda game is what made them good RPGs. FO4 may be good in it's own league, but last FO was a really good RPG, after this really feels shallow.( and the reciews also show it)

Not happening. Seeing the current prices makes me happy that I got the classic Fallout collection on GOG for free when Herve Caen decided to give one last middle finger to Bethesda few years ago.

The franchise used to be regularly on a 66-75% sale on Steam and on other stores. But about a year and a half or two back Bethesda decided to offer worse discounts on them. So don't look too much into a simple 50% sale, we had a year where it was practically a two-month standard occurrence on Steam.

and free on GOG

Yeah, the old ones. Funny enough, Bethesda later added it back, after they made GOG pull it, but they did the same thing as on Steam: they added back the exact same files, they just slapped some launcher with their logo on it, and now it is sold for slightly more than in the Interplay era. I never checked, but I think you can actually buy them even if you own the old releases, having the games twice on the account. =)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Indeed. The last summer sale also had the weakest discounts of all sales and it sold the best. I know I noticed the drop on discounts, and didn't buy a lot of stuff because of this. I really can't understand how it sold more than other sales.

Bethesda are the biggest money hungry cunts amongst publishers. Their games, sometimes 15 to 25 years old games, are the most expensive digital copies you can get. Fuck them, I don't own a single item of them (yup, neither Dishonored, Evil Within, Doom, Fallout, Wolfensein....except for Skyrim).

Beth doesn't need to bundle their games.. other studios which bundle AAA games, do it for tax write off purposes... or the bundle site decides to bundle a few of the companies games together and sell them at the sale price.. rarely does a AAA studio just say,,, meh I'm going to sell my game for pennies on the dollar.. For that, they would just authorize a sale price via their various vendors..
