I used to think physical copies had too much of a difference that I would prefer them and so would most people. I think that idea has changed. As much as I loved the smell of "new stuff", a new guidebook and displaying the game I owned in a neatly placed spot I think the digital distribution system is better even if it replaces physical copies of games altogether.
I mean the companies could still release special edition box sets for collectors.
So far having a collection of 300 or so games on Steam, mostly indie games having grabbed with bundles epitomizes what digital distribution was supposed to do. Meaning if you cut the physical costs of packaging and distribution you would only pay for the development cost and electricity. Bundles show how well this model works. As there really isn't a clear minimum production price, selling a copy online for even a dollar means some form of profit.
Looking back, it's kind of stupid how a digital product was brought into the real world disk, only with the end goal of having that real world disk install something onto your digital device. Like a totally unneeded middle man that increased the end price and manufacturing price. Well obviously the problem used to be that the internet speeds weren't all that great nor was a steady connection that reliable. Also not many had the ability to shop online due to credit card requirement and caution towards the market. Not anymore in countries that are more or less wired up.
I don't own that many physical copies but the ones that come to mind are:
All in quite a mint condition and as good as new.

I still mostly buy physical. Outside of steam sales Amazon UK is cheaper by a fair margin 99 times out of 100, when there is a steam sale on it's closer, but still the price is usually equal. I also like to see things I have purchased. I also never trade in my games.

Back at the end of 2011 I sold my games collection and used the money to upgrade from my old Core 2 Duo / DDR2 configuration to a new i5/DDR3 machine... but I kept several boxes, including those that have online registration, such as Guild Wars (Prophecies, Nightfall, Eye of the North, GW2), Diablo II, Starcraft, WoW, Fallout Collection (1+2+BoS), and Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete. Dead Space 2, Prey and Dark Matter found their way on the shelf later, but I'm only interested in Steam games now. Oh, I do have Blades of Steel, Goal III, Jungle Book, Rescue Rangers 2 and some others for NES safely stored.

On PC I've only got a few physical games, mostly digital, on consoles I got both, probably slightly more physical games though

I use too, I sold them or lost most of them over the years though. I still have a small stack of physical PC games, I plan on getting digital copies of them in the future though.

Gosh … it'a been at least 10 years since I last purchased physical copies of games!
Still have them all … but most of my favs I've repurchased (for cheap) on steam.
Would love to give away the box copies to a friend/relative, but my peers don't game and the younger generation don't want my old stuff.

I only own this
Thought I like more physical than digital, mostly because my internet connection is slow but I kind of like having the box with manuals and everything
I haven't bought a physical copy since I'm on steam, here they are kind of expensive, $40 the cheapest and $80 - $90 for new releases , that's why I don't buy games on my country.
