So just recently I have installed the Steam Idle Master from the direct link in the site. This was my biggest mistake. Now because of this (or possibly some other unknown reason) when I open Steam it brings me to my login page as usual, but when I type in the correct information, Steam waits for a bit then tells me that there is no connection and to retry the connection. I have probably retried around 50 times and I have reinstalled it 3 times as well and Steam can not connect to the internet. I have also tried contacting Steam support but we all know how that ended. (for those of you who don't know, nothing was gained but migraines during the conversations with them) So I say rest in peace to my loving Steam account you have served me well in my many days. (Unless anyone knows how to fix this issue, that would be fantastic)

I can assure you Idle Master has nothing to do with it since it doesn't modify in any way the files that contain the program (steam).

Check your firewall or antivirus. It sounds like Steam client is blocked to use internet.

If you can login in to it from web browser, then the account is OK and this is the reason 99%.

You can try to unistall it and then install it in DEFERENT folder, not the same as it is now. And start it with administrator rights. And watch out for allerts from firewall or antivirus... if you say just once that this is not trusted program, it'll be blocked everytime.

Crap... try Avast and Malwarebytes for cleaning it, hope you don't need more drastic measures.

Also you could try to use your Steam account on another PC to check if it works by installing a small game.

Steam is heavily overloaded at this hour. Stop trying, stop crying. Everything will be all right tomorrow.

Have you tried deleting ClientRegistry.blob from your steam root folder?
That's what usually works when login is screwed up =)

You should edit your first post, so when people search about Idle Master, they don't read scary stories :D

Scan for virus, trojan, key loggers. Can you log into the website? That will rule out those 3 maybe. Check for any other weird log ins or IPs on your account. Uninstall steam, delete the folder. Delete the registry for steam. Delete cookies (does steam use cookies?) Make sure nothing on your PC knows you ever used steam. Then reinstall steam. ALso delete idle master before this too. Try again. Fixed? If not.... I have no idea

I have the same issue, when I launch VPN connection using OpenVPN.
For me, it's enough to disconnect and restart the Steam client.
Maybe you installed some firewalls or any other software, which can block network traffic.
