But hey, at least you can have all those premium features.

My general rule of thumb is that as long as I get my [hours of fun]:[dollars spent] ratio greater than 1:1 I think my money was well spent. I usually get much higher than that since I buy a lot of bundles but I try to estimate how long I think a game will keep me entertained before I buy it.

Its all about patience and self control. )
Personally I buy games only at sales with 50%-75% off and also consider what games I will really play before I've spend money on them. There is plenty of games I just skip after serious research. Some because they are not worth it, some because I enjoyed watching its playthrough on YouTube(like Amnesia, I know its pretty cool, but not really my genre).
I will never pre-order or buy game right after it went on Steam because of sad habit of all modern developers release undercooked and poorly tested products. I'll wait for couple of patches for them and save myself from frustration and also save some money. :)

I know a guy who bought the Humble THQ bundle above average, a day later they added Titan Quest. Then about 3/4 days later they added warhammer 40k. He got pretty mad, he actually wanted Warhammer 40k. The number 1 reason why he wanted the bundle was Metro 2033, well you can guess what happened afterwards...
Edit: I actually bought Dead Island for €6,79 a week ago. Then i heard you could get it for €4,60~, I was like WTF? Then I saw it was GMG and I knew that you needed a credit card or paypal. Then I was like: Ohh, nvm then.

I bought Limbo, Super Meatboy and Braid during the "Because we May" sale. One day later, they were all in Humble Bundle 5. Triple facepalm.

Yeah but you had to BTA to get it and that's like $5 where as The Basement Collection is $3 i think.

I bought Dark Messiah at full price like a month ago because it wasn't on sale and I thought it would be great, then during this Christmas sale, it went down to $2... The game was worth it though...

I remember on a daily flash deal I saw 75% off a 2.00 game...it brought it down to like $1.24... yeah not much but still I hate those sales. You really only save big bucks if it's over $25 bucks.

I had Rage (pre-release) and F.3.A.R. on my Steam wishlist before Christmas one year. My wife bought them for me. 3 months later (I think, 6 months tops) they were half that. Sick as a parrot.

This isn't a complaint thread, btw. Just thought some people might get a laugh or share some similar experiences. I bought BoI back in like may of last year at full price but it went on sale for 75% off the very next day. I was like "WOW STEAM JEEZ".
This ever happen to anyone else?
