USSR is marking their territory, which they are prepared to defend against western imperialism.
Hell is waiting to be unleashed upon us. :o/

Russia makes Steam great again and for other countries too.

They would be even more triggered if language changed to German...
(Sorry, I know it's a terrible joke, I couldn't resist)
As for the change - I think it's a bad example for other titles. Imagine if RHCP games (there's a handful of them) started to transform into Russian-only. Ugh. I have(had?) a RHCP version of New Vegas, and I played it exclusively in english. I don't want to play adapted games, I want them in original (English) language. Forcing people to play in one language without an option to at least buy english version is cruel and stupid, imo.

So...
Russia = Anthony
Hungary = Flea
Czech Republic = Hillel
and
Poland = Jackie

Yap, wonderful. Looked around a little yesterday, it's likely again 1C / Cenega messing everything up. It just feels so inappropiate when a russian corporation tags multiple countries' version as russian - considering the history of the societ block, and Russia's recent "calling dibs on Crimea" it's just heartwarming to see the Russian uninvited again.
Már a spájzban vannak az oroszok :c
edit: had it already downloaded and I still have access to english language, so at least I haven't had problems with that. Don't know about new downloads.

if they region lock my games to russian territory.
then I want to buy games for russian prices...
same happened with dishonored.
I think I bought it on bundlestars .
and now it's RHCP.
and in fact I can join dishonored ga.
wondering what will happen then.
I will have dishonored and dishonored RHCP?
ps. I'm from Baltic

Still normal version in Bulgaria.
However, my game was from a box version from idk where...
P.S : Czech Republic/Poland are not supposed to be in Central Europe ?
Comment has been collapsed.
Let's face it, Europe is not that big that we need to call any of it central, it's just a self-reassuring thing that while we don't belong to the rich and more advanced west, we're not part of russia either. Source: same word of choice for Hungary, central europe / "in the heart of europe"

I think you could be gifted either version no matter the region.
Comment has been collapsed.
Dang, that sucks to hear. Was there any word from GMG on that?
Comment has been collapsed.
Nothing, they did that with the whole eastern block at that time as well.... I wanted to say it's only region-based but if Pete's gift copy also got changed, then maybe region and/or buyer's region as well... I don't know. It really, genuinely felt that it's a developer/publisher thing, not store-releated. The game remained playeable and had english as well, so I tried not to bother. But it really feels bad that I couldn't write a review about Dishonored (turned out one of my favourite games), nor could / can about Fallout NV that's another of those. Feeling like a second-class citizen just because I don't even know why :(

Just downloaded it and menus, dialogue and subtitles are all still available in English

I have seen this happen to Dishonored before. Think the statement was just about separating the community site and forums but the game and ingame language stays intact. Actually I think it was separeted the whole time and only got the name changed now.
Yes, it is still stupid to put us czech people in eastern europe group. Very stupid and due to our history it can be even insulting.

Yet another game that unnecessarily separates communities. I, like probably most of us, bought this game on steam in the god damn €. Why do we have to be separated from the rest and have the RU slapped on the game's title. You know Bethesda, not everyone in the "eastern" Europe is Russian. In fact, most of Russia's territory is in Asia.... If they have to separate people, they could at least give us a choice to which group we want to belong to. Especially those that bought this game directly on steam.
For what it's worth, I still have the English language, so there's that at least.
I wonder, If I bought the ROW version, if there is one, in some online key shop, would I get separated as well, based on where I live? Because If I didn't, then eff buying games on steam. If that's what I get for it, then it's definitely better to buy Global versions from resellers..

I bought Ultimate package on STEAM christmas sale with 50% discount of the standard EU price.
There was no sign of RU version on payment proof only Ultimate without any notice about CIS region.
Yesterday the payment proof was changed to Ultimate RU version with price 9.99euro and discount was removed from proof so Ultimate is not really ROW or steam is cheating.
Someone is messing with the regions and I already asked steam and bethesda support for explanations.

So, basically if you live in eastern Europe, you're screwed either way. Damn.. I bought mine in 2013, so it's a little bit unfair that they changed regions retroactively.
I do wonder why Germany has a separate edition though. Is this about censorship? Too much violence/gore kind of thing ?

I'm not competley sure about the law so maybe it's just Publishers being overly cautious but I think severed limbs and exploding heads are normally a big no-no in Germany.

The german versions of FO3 and FO:NV were censored. The original versions weren't allowed to be advertised or publicly displayed.
Too much violence reminded some of the old farts of their own history.
They even banned River Raid in 1984 for the Atari 2600!
It was a paramiltary instructor and instills violent thinking ...

I don't understand why. It's part of their history :)
But seriously - It's the same for every country - there were wars in the past, there are now and nations will fight in future.
and war never changes xD

Obvioudly I can't talk for every german (and I'm not one) but weirdly enough I yet to have meet one who agrees on those laws :D Each and every german I talked to about the censorship said that it's stupid and it feels weird that the government would think that at a snap of a finger nazis will rise because they see a swastika in a game. Or blood and stuff. + a german friend often gets a little worked up about almost every game having a mandatory evil german scientist in it xD
Comment has been collapsed.
evil german scientist
There are reasons for that stereotype xD For example 90% of neurochirurgy is based on knowledge we got from german death camps. Basically - modern neurochirurgy wouldn't exist without ww2 and all those evil experiments.
Also it's weir why governments still belive that censorship will help with anything. Usually censorship causes the opposite xD

"the russian are behind it"
So true! And nobody have problem with this. Even if there is no proof that russians did anything (or even if logical thinking is agains it).

Shit, it says RU in the title now. :( Well, I had already played it anyway. xD

…then I hope you speak Russian fluently, because at the latest Steam maintenance phase, the Eastern European version, which offered English, Czech, Polish, and Russian as selectable languages, has magically turned into "Fallout: New Vegas RU" (this is how it shows up in the library now) with Russian as the only language.
Edit: Well, at least for some. Certain users say their version is the same just with the new name, many on the forums say the same, some others on the forum now can only see Russian. Yay for consistency!

The funny part is that all the old languages are in there in the repository, they just seem to never download.
