skyrim, was gonna pick dota 2 at first but then dota 2 had to go to the โVillain Most In Need Of A Hugโ Award because most of my opponents need a hug.

Baldur's gate 2 probably. Also Homm2 & 3 could also be an option. These games never really felt old.
They were always amazing no matter what decade I tried them. Sunk more than 5-10 thousand hours on each (especially the homm games) for sure. We are talking about games that you can finish them every few years. Again. And again. And again. With more maps. With mods. With anything. And again. And they still feel great.

PAYDAY 2 for me. It's something I'd play for years to come (or at least until they've released PAYDAY 3)

Contrary to that, I pretty strongly feel Payday 2 is not a game that will even stand the test of a year once Overkill is finally done with the game. I've been playing since the beginning, before we ever had DLC weapons, bombs or even Death Wish difficulty. I've got around 750 hours logged into the game, and I can assure you I'd have quit long before had they left the game as it were. Thanks to Overkill continuously adding new DLC as well as free heists, weapons, masks and other content as well as holding events like the Hoxtober or the 10 days of crimefest or whatever they call it. I mean, I'm done with all the DW achievements and even now I'm inclined to finish them once again on One Down and Mayhem. The only reason it is so replayable is because Overkill has continually supported it and the day Overkill stops, it'll end up just like Payday: TH, a great game which ultimately died out due to lack of novelty in content.

When they eventually stop supporting the game, PD2 will most likely be relevant for at least a couple more years because even now it boasts tons of maps, guns, masks, skills, different builds and achievements. Compared to PDTH, there's only, like, 8 or something maps with no variations? A handful of guns and masks and added with the not exactly noob-friendly nature of the game it's only natural that PDTH died soon after. PD2 is more casual imo and it's perfect for newcomers to come try out and get hooked, even after the development has stopped. Besides, it will probably be dirt cheap, bundled even, by then.
Also, by the time Overkill is done and over with PD2, there's a high probability that a new game or even a new IP will spawn continuing PD2. They like money so it's a definite maybe :p

Honestly, I think Syberia was hugely overrated on release - and for all the years that passed as well. Fortunately it seems that the times when 9 out of 10 people named Syberia after being asked about their favourite adventure game are over (although the relapse is quite possible in the nearest future for obvious reasons).

Well, I'm not saying these games are not enjoyable at all, I just don't agree with statements that Syberia is a genuine masterpiece, the best adventure game of all times and all that - and I've been encountering such opinions, often very categorical, since 2002 both from general gamers and from inside adventure lovers community; eventually one just gets tired, you know. Your comment was very, very mild in comparison with tons of these opinions, but evidently it was enough to trigger a 14-years-old irritation - a bit inappropriately, since you haven't been categorical at all.

I fucking love that game. The reveal about JC's brother is one of the most epic moments ever in a video game, and totally unprecedented in a game from the 90s. I remember I was up till 4 that night, having played level after level and even then adrenaline kept me going on. I wish they'd remaster that beauty even though it holds up today; if any game deserves a remaster, Deus Ex does. (I know there's a fan version of the remaster however, but I haven't found time to install it)

A minority pick but I went for Psychonauts. Game still blows me away years later and my 3rd or 4th playthrough and the stylized graphics hold up.

No mention of RollerCoaster Tycoon? Really? :(
That was my pick by the way, if it wasn't already obvious.

That's what I'm talking about! Didn't get as much time with UT2004, mainly because of the fact that it had/still has CD DRM requiring it to be always placed in the CD disc drive, but I'm pretty sure I've dropped a decent 1000+ hours into TDM alone, and not accounting for all the games of assault and onslaught I've played :')
Coincidentally, Unreal Tournament did Battlefield 3 before EA did Battlefield 3 with the brilliant Onslaught maps. There was nothing more satisfying than running over enemies with that little buggy which had green saber blades on its sides. Plus, when I play BF3 today, I'm always reminded of the tactics we had to use in Onslaught to hold and control the node points

Not my choice, but definitely a runner-up (I wouldn't be able to vote for it anyway, there's no separate page for this game for Russia).

Go on, I wanna hear about your nominations! Every person has that one game which they play to this date, and I figure seeing the choices of other people might motivate me and hopefully others as well to try out new games, which would be pretty excellent, having made it into this category.
I was torn between Deus Ex GotY and Unreal Tournament 1999 GotY, but ultimately voted Unreal because of the sheer replay-ability. I own the original collector's edition on CD which bought in 2001, and since then I have dumped more than 6000 cumulative hours on this game, I kid you not.
