Bethesda has opened the Beta for their "Creation Club" and is giving away a Survival Mode for the Skyrim Special Edition which will be available for free through October 10, 2017 (Clarification: You get to keep the Mod. It won't be removed after October 10).

How do I get it?

Go into your Steam Library, right click on "Skyrim Special Edition", click on "Properties", click on "BETAS" and select "beta - Beta".
Wait until the download finnishes (~ 80 mb) and start Skyrim.

Now click on "CREATION CLUB" and create an account.
(If you have problems creating an account because you can't write an "@" you have to change your keyboard settings to the US layout, then you can write the "@" with Shift+2)

Then purchase the Survival Mode in the shop and it is yours for free.

Paid Mods?

Hell yeah! Supporting the modding scene sounds like a great idea!
Nah... typical Bethesda cashgrab!

if u get it this way u will keep Survival Mode after October 10.
Reviews for Skyrim already mixed (fallout 4 - mostly negative), so Bethesda try to do something to stop ppl writing negative reviews 😎

Yeah and the people downvote positive reviews written before Bethesda implemented the creation club just to push their negative reviews on top. The stupidity behind this, protesting against the paid mods because the modders see no money and at the same time "destroying" the work of normal people who has written a normal review. I still cant believe it.

Ah so that's why my positive review got so many downvotes... I was wondering what was happening, usually even my very mean reviews get a better feedback :D

Yeah. I don't like paid mods, either, but they didn't magically make Skyrim as a whole into a bad game. Giving it bad reviews to try and pressure Valve and Bethesda to drop paid mods is abusing the system.

Are you sure you get to keep Skyrim's Survival mode after that week period?

Just to clarify, once you download Survival Mode it's yours to keep. After the free week is over, it won't be deactivated if you downloaded it within that time.

Not worth it as this "mod" only brings together some free mods from other people.

The beta asks for an acces code in order to install it, i'm I the only one having this issue?
I don't have it installed, waas just checking how does that go, i'll probably end up downloading it if there's no need of a code once i have it in my PC. Can someone confirm this?
Thanks :)

Btw, are you sure that Survival mode remains in your account forever after doing all this?

You don't need an access code. Just ignore that field.

Guys this mode is mostly made for people who don't trust mods on PC AND those on PS4 and maybe XB1 (since there aren't as many mods or, in the case of PS4, no Mods at all)

I installed it but eh it disables fast travel so I'm not going to play it with it on. If it had everything else but the fast travel was allowed I would play with it.

Kinda makes sense, since survival is the name of the game here. If you can just fast travel anytime you get in trouble, there's not much challenge to survive!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You can't fast travel when enemies are near you therefore there wouldn't be any trouble.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Right, but let's say you're out in the wilderness by yourself -- no enemies around -- and you accidentally fall into a freezing river in a blizzard.

With fast travel, you could just hop to the nearest town to dry off and warm up. Problem solved!

But this is supposed to be survival, i.e. it should be a struggle to do anything when you are freezing and near death. If you can get yourself to the nearest town -- great! If not -- you die! That's survival.

They should default to a hunger and fatigue meter at least in future games. Or just mix it up and let people customize how they want it exactly.

If you don't use fast travel, you get a better sense of the size of the world. I didn't for my first (and only) playthrough and I loved it. Currently playing Fallout: New Vegas the same way (though the world is smaller).

Skyrim is huge and I get the sense of the size of the world with fast travel too. I check the clock every time I do it. It's about 12-13 hours from Markarth to Whiterun.

best combo is no fast travel + stamina consumption while running

Got this because it is free, but not paying for any mods. Hate when games try to nickle and dime you with DLC as it is. But to go this level is beyond fucked up.

I'll pass. I didn't enjoy Fallout 4's Survival Mode for long, I'd doubt I will love the one in Skyrim either.

You have to set your keybord layout to US and use Shift+2 to make an "@".
If it isn't working, try to restart your PC after changing the layout.

might be worth trying if one use only workshop mods and is about to start a new fresh playthrough. if you already rely on nexusmod mods and programs (nmn, mo) perhaps it is better to avoid it along with the whole workshop and stick with those. much safer, more aware of what a mod does, more control over possible mod conflicts.

It's one of the options on the main menu when you start up the game.
I didn't see it at first either. Turns out I'd forgotten I had a mod installed that changed the main menu (I haven't played in a long time).
Check if you have a file called "startmenu.swf" in your "\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Interface" folder.

This is what it's supposed to look like:

Bethesda is trying to building a bunker to survive the incoming "bombs review" barrage. LOL
BTW, Fallout New Vegas already have a system like this "Survival Mode" so is nothing really new what they are offering (imo)

Also some of you may find this interesting

I thought so too at first, Bethesda seemed to be doing an even better job than usual of completely failing to communicate properly with the user-base, even seasoned YouTubers like Gopher appeared confused. However:

This is a sale, not a limited trial.

From: Creation Club has launched, Survival 100% off for next week.

Sooooooooooooooo, let me see if I get this straight:

Somebody rip off this guy https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26561/? who already put his mod free on nexus, and Bethesda want us to be happy with that?

I usually jump whenever I hear the word "free", but this time even I am feeling dirty

Bethesda wants to turn a popular hobby into an industry it can profit from, not understanding that the only way of introducing it is by force, which would kill it. "The only winning move is not to play."
