Coop games?! Ooh I've got a few good ones

Castle crashers, Lara croft and the guardian of light, Magicka , Rayman Origins, Trine and Trine 2.
I've played all of those games through with other people and boy did we have fun times, hope you try some of them out, and thanks for the giveaway!

Magicka consists of accidentally (or purposely, acutally more purposefully than accidentally) murdering your partner(s). That could be a hit or miss.

I have never played the Trine series, but this shows how you don't have to be amazing at the game.

Magicka, like Minhs2 said is in our group often the reason for ppl not talking to each other for quite the time.. :D
Torchlight II is quite good and offers a great amount of gameplay and fun!
Or, how about Guild Wars 2?

Diablo 2-3, Torchlight 2, Minecraft, Terraria, ... other casual co-op games..?

Titan Quest, Torchlight 2... Any ARPG really, since the only thing you might hold against each other, loot, is easily traded.

Edit: Gennady's spot on too, Trine series is great for non-angry co-op fun.

Guild Wars 2, mmo might be bit extreme I guess but gw2's great for casual players. Secret world too, got good story.

I have alot of fun with puzzle games and over-the-shoulder co-op. We tend to like hidden image ones, but any game where you both can work on it should work as well, like Bbookworm or You Don't Know Jack. Most shooters or RTS games tend to have a high competitive component in the design which sounds like the part that is causing you friction, so think outside the box and go all zen instead. :)
