Do you have a standard race / class you use for your first playthrough of a Dungeons and Dragons game?

Thanks for the little secret.
To answer the question, I have no standard setup I use.

I like playing wizards because they get so overpowered in the late game.
The funniest interaction I had was in Neverwinter Nights, there is a spell to turn yourself into a red dragon. If you cast it in town, the guards will come to you and start complaining that you are not wearing clothes, completely ignoring the fact that they are in biting range..

Thanks, personally I'm more of WFRP guy, but had long break from playing. Also I've never had a chance to try Icewind Dale (read the trilogy though, quite some time ago ;) )

I tend to pick magic users, but there's nothing special that I would use every time. :-)

I lean towards rogues in any D&D related things, even in these AD&D-based games where spellcasters get really powerful.

Some sort of spellcaster generally speaking

Well, generally I like Elves

I almost always pick the Cleric

Icewind Dale uses the 2nd edition D&D ruleset, thus dual-classed humans are insanely powerful. Start with a fighter and make sure to have the requisites for the 2nd class (alignment, 2nd class-related attributes, weapon proficiencies). Either dual-class at level 6 or if you like challenges, level 9. This way you can have a caster or a rogue who can fight very efficiently.
Oh and thanks for the gibs!

I kinda always play as a rogue, every time I try to play as something else it becomes a rogue after a while

Usually a human or elf bard, sorcerer or wizard.

Mostly (half-)elf rogue or ranger.
Thank you so much for these giveaways!

I prefer ranged and magic user characters, preferably with some kind of selfheal.
Thank you for both giveaways!

I always go with ridiculous combinations with characters that are slightly cracked.

When i was a kid i prefered paladins or warriors, nowadays im more partial to rogues and bards, sometimes clerics.

I guess I prefer magic users more generally, but I do a bit of everything too.

Rogues. Always satisfying to disarm traps and pick locks.
