The fact that there is a FFX encoder and decoder based on the language of the game is mind-boggling.
Thanks for the fun puzzle!

Thank you, and congrats on solving it!

That was a tough one... :) Thanks for the fun.

Sheesh, needed that hint that it was a "game" else I wouldn't have thought Final Fantasy X in my life. I knew FANTASY and 10 were hints but I went the double columnar route and ceasar shift with 10.

If you google FFX it should be (onf of the) first hits but that might differ per country or based on (my) preferences, and well i also said Squall approved (hinting more toward FF) and that the subject was using a capital FFX on purpose.
Oh how many of this sort of puzzles and even much much harder ones people made years ago, it also made my head hurt where i often just gave up. :p It's a shame they left, and i am also not smart to make very complicated onces, but i thought this was just another "gimmick" one that i also used several years ago (but i was much clearer on where to look then) ;).
Anyway grats on finding it.

Never played FFX so I thought Squall was some steamgifts puzzle person lol so that hint fell on deaf ears but once you said game and you put X in the title, guessing FFX + "decoder" or "cipher" got a hit really easily yeah.
Only puzzle person that's got me stumped is TomasMacMordain after the dozen or so times I go back to his puzzle and smash my head into my screen in hopes that I might get concussed to getting the solution.

Outstanding puzzle! I appreciate the opportunity! =D

And you should play FFX one day, beautiful game.

I concur and I appreciate your suggestion.
The last main FF I played was FFVII on PS1, a marvellous classic. Then played FF Tactics for GBA. It's awesome!
I also like languages, semantic... I was really impressed by the singular phonetics translated to "our world", since the Al Bhed's graphic an phonetic representations inside the game's universe would be a tad complex than they seem to be to us.
And Turok series was a must play for me on N64, among many classics like Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, Super Smash Bros.,Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, StarFox 64, The Legend of Zelda Occarina of Time and Majora's Mask, Banjo-Kazooie, 1080º Snowboarding, Diddy Kong Racing, WWF No Mercy, F-Zero X, Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Wave Race 64... OK, OK, I'm done. XD

I already own the game, but I still wanted to solve the puzzle. You have no idea about all the jumps through hoops I had to make in order to get here. Even found this in the process.

The music was pointing to the Fast and the Furious 10 movie, since it didn't had any official music, i wish there was.
Nor would it have been my taste.

yeah the FFX clue had me going back 10 years looking for edits, lol

Oh, it REALLY was a Turok 2 giveaway!
I would never do it without your tips xD
Thanks!

I never lie about what i gift. ;) Perhaps it would have been fun though if i also translated that in Al Bhed, but i wanted to give people enough incentive to try (not for some crappy game).
Thank you and grats.

Skyrim giveaways disguised as Bad Rats giveaways back in the day have made me suspicious to this day xD

Provided hints also helped. Thanks!

Weird way to solve it, but whatever helps. :)

I just asked him what kind of cipher is used based on the given hints:
Knydc -> Grats
Pisb -> Bump
And then I asked to try to decipher longer sentences from the thread to something readable.
Firstly, I also tried to decypher it with a Caesar code, I thought that the shift may be dynamic, but couldn't find the pattern :)

I was overthinking it... by a lot
I found the reference to Final Fantasy, and even saw Al Bhed, but with the custom alphabet, so I thought it's the red herring and then found FPE-FFX cipher, but there are very few online tools for it. Finally noticed I was wrong when I saw your Good luck and thank you comments using simple substitution cipher

Grats, sometimes the simplest things in life are just simple.

I kept translating from english to al bhed and couldn't figure why the code wasn't working :^)
Thanks for FFX themed puzzle!
