I've read through the rules several times and this isn't mentioned anywhere. I'd be glad if clarifications are made, but I have seen other giveways take a similar approach and request to be added.
oh, i was thinking of this part: "You cannot ask users to perform any special action in order for their entry to be considered valid"
but I misremembered it as you can't make winners do something to get their key
Giving through the site, sending to email, adding on Steam, they're all valid ways to send a gift. Giving through the site wasn't even a thing for much of the site's history.

um, you can't force people to add you for a key. You have to give it through the site.

you are not forced... just for when things go wrong, it's just easier for support to check proof that key was given, and link to it opened or not
