Also, I was almost tempted to mention Singularity in your thread, since I recently played and enjoyed it, but doesn't really fit the military shooter genre. It's an FPS and you do shoot some soldiers in it, but it has more of a sci-fi horror vibe, and focuses more on atmosphere and exploration than shooting. It wasn't a phenomenal game, and probably isn't what you're looking for, but I enjoyed my time with it. :)
