Description

1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany

The first one looks really powerful and well fitting for the purpose.
The second one is a bit bizarre. It looks like the people are scared of the planes, and considering this was in Germany just a few years before the war it's almost prophetic.

Little known fact, the guy on the left supported the other two. They only had 2 gloves (which is why one uses the left arm and the other the right arm), so he couldn't raise his fist with them, but received a badge that he's wearing proudly on his chest.

Here's a good documentary (with Morgan Freeman narrating <3) about the games and Jesse Owens: More Than Gold.

The glove was/is part of the black power salute. The image I posted was from a later olympics (1968), but it is a good symbol for the Jesse Owens win.

"Both US athletes intended to bring black gloves to the event, but Carlos forgot his, leaving them in the Olympic Village. It was the Australian, Peter Norman, who suggested Carlos wear Smith's left-handed glove. For this reason, Carlos raised his left hand as opposed to his right, differing from the traditional Black Power salute."
