Survival mode is definitely not for everyone - there is no story and no "win conditions" -- it's literally just see how many days you can survive. But if that clicks for you... look out, because next thing you know you'll end up with hundreds of hours in the game!
Games like this actually put me off, some still rope me in ocassionally but I eventually have to force myself to quit them - I've intentionally avoided this game for this reason alone. 1.2k is pretty crazy even still, think the numbers that hit that high for me were all online games. Glad you're enjoying it though.
Just hit 1200 hours in this game. It's pretty good.
