Metal Gear is a heck of a game with a heck of a lot going on and for it's 5th numerical installment, they wanted to show just what they had in mind a little early with a "demo" of sorts: Ground Zeros. It actually has some pretty decent mechanics and Snake seems to be a bit more responsive than in the main game, but due to the "2 hours of story" in what was a $40 title, people were upset to say the least. There is more than just that story bit to the game as there are alternate missions and difficulties to conquer, side missions that were console exclusive to their respective platforms, and even some sweet rewards for the main game if you accomplish certain tasks.

For a demonstration of the tech and mechanics, it's a fantastic time waster for sure.

(Google "This is what 300 hours in Ground Zeroes looks like" because that video was hilarious and makes the game look great.)
