It's as if Terraforming meets Into the Breach, marries her, h🖤lds her h🖤nd very t🖤ght, and they have a very special kid :D
Because it is a random-low* puzzle strategy, but with indirect control via terrain manipulation.
(*) Less random in combat than Into the Breach!
