Bump

Next question: is there a developper you trust enough to purchase a game without thinking and at full price? I used to do that with Bioware.....not so much now :D

Yes, two.
Nintendo and Supergiant Games... in fact I bought Hades 2 day one and its OST... with no plans to touch it until full release. With Nintendo... everything is always full price... but the games are almost always very good. Metroid Prime 4 hype.

Hades is such a good game indeed. And I agree with you for Nintendo games. They usually are very good. but boy are they expensive, even years after :x

Yeah definitely agree on Nintendo. I know they get criticised for milking the franchises, but the thing is whichever of their series you like, you know that the main line entries of that series are going to be good. And as you say they are pretty much always full price anyway, so if you want the game, might as well buy it as soon as you can. I just can't believe how good the new games they are releasing for the switch are. Never heard of a console 7 years old that is still getting so much love.

And yes Metroid 4 hype indeed, can't believe how long this has taken.

I avoid paying full price for video games. Why someone would do that is beyond me.

Only a few franchises, but not everything from a specific developer. Well unless said developer only has 1 franchise/title like Bugbear.

You know I was gonna say SuperGiant but I haven't bought Hades 2 yet. Mostly cause I know I'll sink way too much time into it so I'm putting it off for now

I generally never purchase games for full price nowadays, regardless of my faith in the devs. If i'll be purchasing something, i'll wait for the historically low price, or a really good discount

SCS, the developer of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. I typically buy their map expansions as soon as they come out. (There is usually a 10% discount bundle available, though, so it's not quite full price).

Easy one: no. It is not even about trust, it's more "why the rush?", I can always wait for the reviews first.

I only pre-purchased a few games and they have consistently been buggy messes on release date so I've been cured

Easily the FAR lonely sails Dev! Loved the game!! But my coffers are kinda suffering, so I'll wait a bit more then I'll for sure get the 2nd game!!
Maybe even the Planet of Lana dev.

That's a good question. I'm more a "wait til the price comes down" kind of guy - a ridiculous backlog of games that no mortal could finish will do that - but in terms of developers I trust, how about these:

Larian Studios
Wadjet Eye Games
Spiderweb Software

Fine fine devs, with a lot of great games behind them.

You've named both my nemesis and two of my favorite devs.

I can't love Larian games, even if I am a fan of Baldur's gate original games.. I've played them all (because I love rpgs) and I liked none. I put this on the writing style but I'm not quite sure why I hate them.

But Wadjet Eye? For sure! I loved their recent Unavowed, and the whole Blackwell serie. Has a feel of Gabriel Knight, and I love that.

And Spiderweb? I actually participate to each of their kickstarters. They deserve it.

Hard to believe it, but Unavowed is already six years old. I'm especially fond of that one because the first theater location, if you play the actor option, is a mashup of two real spaces in New York: the Brick in Brooklyn, and Under St. Marks in the East Village. I've performed in both, and it's a treat seeing special locations like that turn up in games.

Sad but true, they edit other games ( Nighthawks looks interesting) but I don't see anything developped direcyly by Wadjet Eye.

Yeah ^^ And the money goes to save cats, too ^^
They have several games that are free, and just the dlc is buyable, too.

Rusty Lake, their games are always very affordable and good quality. I have never been disappointed by them so I'll gladly buy their new games right away. I even have a steam folder dedicated to their games, that's how much I like them.

ZUN. I've been pirating Touhou games for years, so when HSiFS was first added on steam and the older games later, I knew I had to buy them to pay back my "debt". And from what I remember, they never went on sale, so it always was at full price.

No, not really. However, nothing to do with trust. My game taste is rather special. So, I do not buy a game before I am halfway sure that it is in my interest and does not have stupid or broken achievements. Even then it can happen that I keep away for other reasons.

There are developers where I have more games from. I own for example a lot from Capcom (pretty much the only AAA company in my library). There are also game developers I enjoyed interacting with. Currently that would be Emberheart Games. Wouldnt mean though that I buy their every game. But it made me consider buying a game outside of my typical genre and I quite enjoyed that one.

Tbh I can't really afford games at full price in my region. But if ignore that for the sake answering the question, I would say Fromsoftware, CD project red and Capcom at least with their monster hunter franchise.
Fromsoftware is a easy choice. Even if I include games like dark souls 2 sotfs that I didn't enjoy that much, it's still a solid game just like all of their games.
CD project Red seems like a risky choice due to cyberpunk at launch. But I recently played it for the first time and it was amazing experience. It's now my own standard of what I wanna see in a standard open world, action rpg game. I haven't even played witcher 3 yet. But I played witcher 1 in 2022 and I loved it. So I am really happy with their quality of game be it old or new.
Capcom monster hunter franchise is an insane journey. Even if you just old gameplay footage from older game, you can see just how impressive it is and how it has garnered such huge community. I played monster hunter freedom unite and that was amazing. And I jumped straight into World from that and I was mindblown. I have 200 hours in the game. I didn't finish iceborne. I put it down cause I was playing it so much and felt like I need to play something else.

I'm too much of a cheapskate to buy anything full price, especially when steam offers generous discounts on a regular basis, but I have a lot of faith in Supergiant. I've always at least liked their games and Pyre has one of my favorite stories in gaming.

I am a fan of Devcats. They make very fun games, and are quick to issue any fixes for the (minor that I've heard about, anyhow) bugs. They are quite friendly, and the money from their games goes to the adoption of cats!

I also loved Wasteland, a game that I played on the C64 quite a few years ago. I bought Wasteland 2 (which also became Wasteland 2: DC as well). I played them BOTH to 100% completion. When Wasteland 3 came out, I bought the Deluxe Edition at full price. While I haven't played it yet, I do not regret the purchase one iota!

ConcernedApe and Team Cherry, as their previous games are both in my favourite games of all time. I'm definitely getting both Haunted Chocolatier and Hollow Knight: Silksong for full price the second they're available. It helps that they launch their games at relatively low prices too!
