The fact that you have to ask shows that (ethically) you know you shouldn't, but that technically you can because SG can't possibly monitor all gaming sources.
I agree that it would be better to leave it for someone who doesn't have the game on another platform already but ultimately it is up to the giveaway creator. Also, the fact that he thought to ask should count for something and shouldn't just be dismissed. At least give him credit for that. He could have just entered without saying a word and no one would have been the wiser.
This has way more in common with some of the relatively recent Castlevania games than with Spelunky. Spelunky is a random world each time and this is a big world with different sections. Also unlike Spelunky is the fact that there are save points so as long as you use them you don't have to start all over every time you die.
Difficulty wise it isn't quite as hard as Spelunky to start out but that still means it is way harder than most games out there these days.
