In Germany we have a saying: "What a farmer doesn't know, he doesn't eat. :P

Thank you very much!
Edit: oh, no thanking, okay... Don't know, what counts as scientifically intresting? First thing that comes to my mind that the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus got it's name (aureus, aurum = gold in latin) because it has yellow-ish pigments in it's cells :)

This counts. ;)

I'll chain on that!
You probably already have it, since it is sometimes found as normal skin flora...
But the one you don't want to catch is the multi-antibiotic resistant strain we call methicillin-resistant Staph aureus (MRSA for short). They typically live in hospitals, and can easily kill you since treating it properly requires antibiotic resistance cultures, which take time.
While waiting for the cultures, doctors use multiple broad-spectrum antibiotics... thus adding to the problem of resistance.

That's scary! Fortunately, I wash my hands almost like I'm paranoid... Have they tried to kill it with fire, though? ;)

Chairs were a rare piece of furniture in most medieval homes, even lord's manors and keeps. The word "chairman" comes from the fact that usually the highest-ranking member of the household would use the chair.

Great giveaways! Here's one of my favourite funny quotes:
An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience.

Last week while travelling I discovered that an unusual combination of environmental conditions had led to a huge swarm of giant barrel jellyfish off the South coast of England. Maybe not the best place for swimming right now. Thanks for the great train in any event!

This Entire Video
Japanese Gameshow called Gaki No Tsukai
Or Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!! in its full variant. Been going on for years and has over a thousand episodes, apparently. Only watched about a dozen myself.
Literal translation is "Downtown's 'This is no task for kids!!'"
Video linked is absolutely hilarious at parts,
In Episode Two of that challenge at 35:40 males will CRINGE. Then laugh their socks off once they realise that he was actually hit with a rather large pink .....
Never found a full screen version, though, hadn't looked that hard. Only found it recently.
