I recently read that there are "two types of taiwaneses". Ones mor close to China (as a country and share history) and another part close to Japan and his help decades ago. Is this true?

Most of Taiwanese consider Taiwan is a "Country", but our current government (KMT) do not allow people say that to China. The main reason is that KMT's founder is from China and they want Taiwan back. The KMT try to brainwash people that Taiwan's economy is strongly depend on China so a lot of people are fear of express the idea of becoming independent nation. I do think there are two types of Taiwaneses, but the types are "willing to express the idea" and "not willing to express the idea". Please forgive my poor English.
