Bump

This game is freaking hilarious, especially if you've played the original Oregon Trail back in the 80s (on Apple II, Commodore 64, or IBM PC).

Well, I can't say I played the game on its original platforms, but I've played three or four different DOS/Windows versions of the game, along with The Amazon Trail and The Yukon Trail. I definitely prefer the later versions of the first game, after they added color graphics and an improved hunting game. Well, I imagine this game has its own form of hunting, but hopefully we don't have to eat the meat we get from it.. :X

Ha, yeah. Coded a lot of crappy BASIC games on my buddy's Tandy. I had an IBM PCjr. It's still at my Mom's house and still works, including the Racore (3rd party) enhancements that I added myself as a kid (because we couldn't afford to pay someone else to do it) that terrified my Mom (because she was sure that I would break the computer while working on it). :D

At my Dad's place (divorced parents), I had a Commodore 128. If you want to see it in action, check out this: How to Order Starbucks with a Commodore 128

That is my actual C128 from when I was a kid...I donated it to my buddy Paul, who is a freaky genius and collects old tech. I had restored it a year or two earlier...some things weren't working, but they were just mechanical issues, nothing wrong with the electronics or boards. I played with it, had my nostalgia time, showed it to my kids, etc., but then realized that it needed a new home with someone who would actually use it, so I gave it to Paul. Clearly, he did something super cool with it. 😀😎

Now that these machines are antiques, they're starting to value up. I actually could have wrangled $150-$200 for my old C128 setup, but it was more valuable to me to see something like this happen with it. 🤓 (。◕‿◕。) 💾

Well, this was an above-average setup...the computer, original (what passed for higher-definition) monitor, two 5.25" floppy drives (the classic 1541 and newer 1571) as well as a still-functional-if-you-can-find-the-ribbon dot matrix printer, all cables, and about 300 games (likely mostly pirated, knowing me as a kid :D ) on floppies, almost all of which still completely work.
