Congratulations to the winner on an apparent first win on SteamGifts after only 8 years!

Thank you so much, like you said, this is the first time I have won a giveaway on steamgifts. I was beginning to think that winning was not possible on steamgifts since I only enter for games that I would like to play.
Thank you once again :)

Oh, it is possible, but the odds aren't great; in this giveaway you had 1 chance in 474 of winning, and that was with only an hour for people to enter.
For more sought after games, and those which run as giveaways for longer, the odds decrease drastically (e.g. 1 chance in thousands).
So if, on average, there tend to be, say 3,500 entries for giveaways you typically enter, you would expect statistically to win about 1 in every 3,500 you enter; seems like it was finally your turn!
You probably know by now the various ways of improving the odds (levelling up, looking for non-public giveaways in the discussions, joining appropriate private groups, etc; all essentially gaining the ability to enter giveaways with fewer entrants).
I also notice that you were unfortunate to have once won a giveaway from a user with a poor record of delivering. That must have been quite frustrating!
My own win ratio is better because I have no idea what games I might or might not enjoy, and so enter many unpopular giveaways in the hope of finding a hidden gem of a game, or even just one I find quirky in just the right way! So what if I pick up a load of junk in the process, it's free junk!
May your adventures continue!

Yes, I have known my odds of winning were too low considering the amount of people entering those giveaways were always in thousands. Gotta improve the contributor level. After my first year on steamgifts, I decided I didn't want to enter giveaways for games I know I won't play because there are hundreds in my own library that I know I won't touch. Something I am not interested in might actually be a gem for another person, so I refrain from entering them and just adding them to my game library. Better they go to people who might actually enjoy playing them.
