Favorite Grand Strategy franchise?
I want a Victoria III
I liked the industrialization, the Pop Management and the the way you turn an old fashioned monarchy into a modern democracy..
I would love to see this on an updated engine like EUIV or HoIIV

is it super expensive? or super cheap?
it can either be a "unique" experience, so expensive.
or utter crap and suffering, so cheap...

the recipe for ultimate Grand strategy_
take the war system form Hearts of Iron series
the diplomacy from Europa Universalis series
the population management form Victoria II
and let your country be ruled by individualized leaders like in Crusader Kings II

The genre is my first love in gaming.
Played the heck out of Total War Empires.

I love Stellaris. I really want to play Romance of the Three Kingdoms after I heard that it's Toady's favourite book (developer of Dwarf Fortress). I downloaded the demo, but it wasn't in English. XD
I like all the old 4X space strategies, Master of Orion, Imperium Galactica, Alpha Centauri.
The original X-Com (1994) is one of my favourite games of all time. And Dwarf Fortress. <3 <3 <3 Dungeon Keeper 1&2 are also high on my list.
I've really wanted to get into Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis, the 'grand strategy' genre, but it's tough to find an entry point. Haha, I should really just dive straight in and try not to drown. I watch Quill18 religiously on Youtube (and his streams).
Anyway that was my application to the Strategy Enthusiasts. May I seek membership? Maybe you guys can give me some Grand Strategy tips. \(º □ º l|l)/

Sure. Welcome to our little group!
If you watch quill18 religiously you probably know a thing or two about GSGs. I actually think that Arumba's tutorials are a bit better than quill's, but I bet you could probably play an easy nation. It's mostly trial and error. I lost a lot, even playing nations like Castile/France that are really easy, before I was confortable enough to actually win a game.
Well, if you want any kind of help, I'd be more than glad to help you. Some other members as well.

Thank you! I'm glad and proud to be a member.
I feel like it's very different to GSGs than to actually partake in it. With Quill18 he kind of controls everything super fast with slashes of the mouse and hotkeys while telling a riveting tale. Like, his CK2:Monks & Mystics LP recently was amazing.. all that secret society stuff, although I think he was playing the game in an unorthodox manner. But he was saying these games can be more like a "giant story generator" rather than something with a direct end goal. I don't mind losing though with GSGs, the fun is in the journey, not the destination. :D
Thanks for the tip on Arumba, I'll go and check out the channel.

It's the third month of strategy games GAs here on SG. Hope you enjoyed previous GAs. The first being a Turn-Based Strategy, then a RTS and now a Grand Strategy. About the game: Europa Universalis 4 is a GSG made by Paradox and one of my favorite strategy games of all time.
Here's your ticket. Lvl 1+, as always. It's the digital extreme version, but please do NOT enter for the dlcs!
