I'm sorry for the somewhat dodgy title but not sure how to phrase it... sighs

Quick and simple. Having the wishlist (on sync) remove entries you now own would be nice. I tend to queue up a few giveaways in a row and somewhat forget about it. While that in itself isn't an issue it is once you buy said title and hence the suggestion.

Not that removing yourself is a time consuming thing though. Would just be nice with that little "touch" so to speak as I make sure to be in sync.

The problem is that if you sync during a free weekend of a game and you entered some giveaways of that game, your entries would be removed and you would have no way to enter again.

I don't honestly fully understand this.. When you sync (this isn't only wishlist from what I've seen, it's your whole library) so wouldn't that only mean -that- game during the weekend would be added as a owned game and if you'd sync at a later date it'd be removed? If that's the case I don't see the problem...

If the above would be true you could just enter the giveaways once more or am I being thick here?

Reentering giveaways is harder than leaving them though. And pple probably won't even realize that their entry has been automatically removed.

Yes, but most giveaways would end before you are able to enter them again, especially since Steam usually still reports that you own the game for several days after the free weekend ended.
So you're fixing an already fixable issue (manually remove entries, or ask for a reroll if you forgot and win a giveaway) by introducing an unfixable one. We already get tickets during free weekends from users unable to enter giveaways for the related games, now if in addition they would be removed from previously entered giveaways, I'm sure they would be really upset.

This isn't making any sense at all. It is true that Steam have delayed owned games with a few hours on my end but that's about it. This would not prevent anyone or shorten any giveaways as you described. I will however take your word on it.

People having tantrums over not being able to participate a giveaway? And here I am trying to give others an insignificantly higher chance of winning Chuckles Either way I suppose we can close this topic as I might as well write a script to do this myself.

The steam API still reports to SG that you own the game for several days, sometimes weeks, after the free weekend is over. And SG would remove all entires for giveaways that you've entered for games during or "shortly" after the free weekend if you happend to sync during this period. This could effectively mean that all entires for a giveaway would be removed due to a free weekend happening.

steam gifts syncs with steam -> SG notices user has X new games -> SG checks if user is entered in any give aways for the new games that have been synced -> SG removes those entries. -- Sure I missed a lot of edge cases, but it can be done.

I didn't say it can't be done, I said it causes issues with free weekends.

So game has a free weekend -> SG syncs with Steam -> SG notices you "own" that game -> SG checks if user is entered in any give aways for that game -> SG removes those entries -> you can't enter back because you "own" the game

What I do is go to the entered page and search for the game that I just got, if it finds any result then I leave the giveaway. It's simple.

Yeah exactly this. It's not that hard really. Well if you have a lot of new games added on Steam, then you may have a lot of games to check in your GA entries here on Steamgifts, but if you're not really entering every giveaway that goes by, this shouldn't really be a problem.

nooo that's too much work.
better to have it automated with all the drawbacks mentioned here. :3

Make it as a separate function (separated from standard sync), otherwise I don't support this suggestion.

The reason for this is that I like to have a better idea of which entries I am removing at which time and also how many points are then rolled back, so I can manage my account and giveaway entries with better flexibility.
