It is very good

For people who used to play the classic Sonic (1, 2, 3 and S&K) and Sonic Adventure games this game is very fun, plus it have a nostalgia value, specially when you recognize the music and stages.
For people who were not used to play older Sonic games, it is a good game, but not nearly as fun.

Many level in 3D in 2D gameplay, you have manygame and races. Is the better sonic you can found on Steam. Easy to play and really nice Graphics, soundtrack as winner of year 2011 for game.

tl;dr version:

360pad req, not literally, but, for enjoyable play.
Best 3D sonic game since the adventure series.
Sonic still gotta go fast, but you can usually pace yourself through levels if scenery is your thing. Don't expect a good score.
Unnecessary and game pace ruining 2D platforming during 3D levels is annoying.
3D platforming during 3D levels is enjoyable.
Physics aren't ideal. Blew my mind when I first entered a water level to find I could jump like Magic Johnson when underwater.
Terrible voice acting.
Story line is ass.
Bosses tend to be tedious. Especially towards the end. Dodge this, oh it hit you? Keep dodging it, but then ima fly away and make you dodge it again even if it misses you AHAHAHHA. Sigh.

So there you go. Good game, nice graphics, fun gameplay with the 360 pad, but, not a single sitting completion kinda thing.

I thought it was brilliant, give it a try, especially since its on sale

Use to love the sonic series, seems the same old, repeated a bit too much. Still a bit of fun.
