I was a pretty big fan up until 3. Hated AC3 so much(Which I preordered) that I stopped playing the games, even though every game after looked great.
Although a few weeks ago I finally came back, and played AC4. which I beat last week. Had a pretty good time with it, so I'm kinda back in the series. And will slowly play them when I get them for cheap. lol

I never understood the hate agains III. No question. No AC can compete with II so this is unquestionable. But I never got why so many people hated III. The Character and story were unique - I really enjoyed it!

Origins disappointed me so far. It felt like Far Cry Game in egypt but I never felt at any point as I would be playing an assassin. I killed the first 2 bosses accidently by doing side quests.

Rogue and AC III because after those games I understood that assassins are wrong

I heard Brotherhood is the best but I voted AC2 since I played that. My first one was Revelations and then I bought the ones I could back then when I found them for cheap.

Only played until Unity so far, so I can't judge the newer parts.

For me it's Black Flag, because I love the ship gameplay. But AC2 is the best regarding the "usual" AC gameplay.

I haven't played Origins yet (nor any of the PSP or smartphone games & Rogue) but my personal favourite would probably be Revelations. It had a lot of interesting sidemissions (Assassin tombs, Altair flashbacks & destroying Leonardo's War machines) and a good city for climbing and parkour. Despite being improved I didn't like the Brotherhood feature as much as in Brotherhood because it was even more OP and the mix your own bombs feature felt somewhat pointless.

Haven't played anything from 3 an beyond. Picked up Origins a couple of months ago and I have to say, I'm just not engaged with it at all. It's got some nice features but I can't connect to Bayek at all. Voice acting, character movement, engagement and depth are just horrible IMO. Even the story is so bland.

That's just my take.

Absolutely loved AC2 and Brotherhood though. Epitome of AC games to me.

well i cant do the poll. when i was younger i played 1 game which we only had the disc to. no idea what it was i just spent most of my time climbing and jumping off buildinga since i had no idea what i was doing

Funny story, I got into Assassin's Creed around the time Black Flag was announced - My goal was to play through the franchise so that I could enjoy Black Flag to its fullest with knowledge of the whole lore etc, as the game looked really fun but I never had played an AC game yet.

I started with the first AC game, regardless of people saying it was pretty bad, and to be perfectly honest I'm very happy I did because it was one of my best AC experiences. The story alone was worth it, and just... getting a taste of what started the franchise. I don't know, maybe it's because it was my first AC game, but I greatly enjoyed it. Then of course I played AC2, which was a most pleasant gaming experience as well, if not one of the best games in the franchise. Then I played the one in-between and if I can be so blunt as to admit, they weren't very memorable at all, and just felt like "Assassin's Creed 2.1 and 2.2". FC3 was decent, but brought nothing much new to the franchise, and the story was really bad (that was without a doubt the worse protagonist inn the AC franchise in my humble opinion).

I finally got to AC4 Black Flag months ago and I have to say this - It was the most fun I've had in an AC game. The unique and creative idea of incorporating sailing and naval battles in combination with the classic Assassin's Creed combat and stealth/assassination gameplay made for an excellent game, borderline spin-off of the usual Assassin's Creed games. If anything, I felt that there was a lack of enemies to fight on the ground as opposed to the ocean, but it's excusable since the game's focus is on naval action.

If I were to choose, I'd pick Black Flag as my favourite, and AC2 as a close second. Both games are extremely different in general, so it's a nice balance between the best of both worlds. Now if only we could get another Black Flag which improves on these points... it's a shame it's unlikely we'll ever see that again though, or even naval combat at all for that matter.
