First game I bought was World of Goo, which was a week after the Linux client became public and I activated the humble bundles (5,6, frozenbyte, introversion, frozen synapse, spacechem) all activated on t

I was pretty sure it was the Orange Box, recommended by my friend back in the day when I joined Steam. But this event told me it was actually Garry's Mod.

My first game on Steam was Metro 2033 which I got from virtual CD by Valve promotion "get digital copy for your physical game" (or something like that)

Aliens vs Predator. Was and still am an Alien fan and I just needed to have the game. I was 12 and I remember that I was owning nearly everybody as an Alien in multiplayer. Awh, good times, I am still missing it. Now I have more than 1000 games (steam, uplay, origin, xbox and other platforms) and I have really nothing to play, which is terrible.

Red Orchestra 2 Heroes of Stalingrad / Rising Storm but just because Tripwire gave It for free.
Killing Floor was my real first game. I played like 230 hours. Started pretty late on Steam so I´ve seen people with 5K hours.

Was a 'receive 1 game a year for Christmas' kind of person back then. Not sure what happened for Christmas 2010, and yep I was lazy activating 2009's gift!
First purchase from the store was Arma Combined Operations in June 2012 because of the DayZ mod. A few games folowed over the next year or so before really ramping it up from the 2013 summer sale onwards.

Seduce Me the Otome.
When I first got Steam, I was planning to buy some games I saw a streamer play that I wanted to play myself. When I saw that visual novels were on Steam, and that some were free, I went on a downloading spree for the ones I could find before buying anything. Seduce Me the Otome was the first I found, and the first of the lot I played. Despite the silly title, I actually enjoyed it. Has some flaws, but is a nice free otome game overall.

So using this new Spring Cleaning event, I got to see what my first steam game I had was. And it wasn't what I thought it was.
So, as usual, I got to thinking. What was your first steam game?
Mine was Dark Messiah of Might & Magic. Game had SUCH potential, but the game breaking bugs killed it for me.
So, what was your first steam game?
Edit- Added a small GA for you all as thanks for making this the most successful topic I have ever made on SG.
