I'm a huge fan of Max for a boy's name. Just because. See Sam & Max or Annie Hall.

Congrats, a first child is a big occasion! I have three boys, choosing a name is so hard, it's something he'll be living with for the rest of his live. Also choosing a name, to me, is so personal. For me I always found it hard to decide on a name before seeing the baby; so me and my husband would choose a couple name and then make the final decision once we saw them. There's a lot of site on the internet that give you list of name by country and even give you their meaning, maybe that would be a good place to start.
Anyway good luck with everything, I wish you a very happy and healthy child:)

Congratulations!
On names I have a few which just sounds good in my opinion: Luca, Tyler, Nathanael/Nathaniel (gift from god), Miakoda (power of the moon), Yasuo (healthy son), Ryota, Yoru, Yusaku.
Most japanese names have different meanings in kanji, so it's hard to just write one in latin letters.

I like this two names:

Bambang
It means "knight"

Suharto
It means "Good treasure". This was the name of an indonesian general who took the power to turn himself in the second president of the country.

Sorry if I made some mistake, I searched this options in spanish and then I translated them into english. Congratulations :)

Congrats with baby! I like the name Alexander, in my language it means "honorable defender". Many kings and generals have this name. I like "Steven" and "Suharto" - good treasure. I hope you choose a good name =)

Congrats to your first child.

No family tradition about continuing names from within the family?
Also what exactly are you looking for, as in something rare (this obviously depends on where you are in the world)?

My parents named me and my sisters after how rare the names were in my home country.

It seems most people now days are obsessed with the thought of the name meaning something special, instead of something that they really like.

Either way, here are a few I like:

Devin, Cristopher, Damian, Matthew and Thomas.

Good luck and thanks for the gibs.

Congratulations. Lots of sleepless nights ahead I bet! make the most of your free time while you have some! :-)

Maybe think about how the names sound with your family name. I think it can sound bad if they end with the same sound or are often shortened to have the same sound and rhyme For example, Tommy Connerly, or Jimmy Murphy. Too many 'ee' sounds.
Also think about what the name sounds like in your own language and whether it's easy for people to say.
The meaning in different languages is important too. For example, 'ben' is like the word for poo in Japanese, so it wouldn't be a good name there!

That aside, I think these are nice Japanese names - Taiyo, Haruto, Yusuke, Ryosuke
and some Western ones - James, Oliver, Thomas, Louis

Thanks for the train and congratulations for your child!

As for the name, I would give him the name of a loved one who passed away, or someone that you proudly admire (Nelson, Leonardo, Martin, Michelangelo, William, some examples), or use the name of a fictional character you love (Ezio, Clark, Forrest, Dovahkiin!).
