Listen choom,

You've made an impression, but Pixie says we got to make sure you're on the level - mentally like.

She recently got hold of some antique tech-gadget, and now she is asking you to make sense of this thing. The thing is pretty simple: type in a challenge phrase, and it generates a password response.

She says people used this kind of shit as 'virtual password tokens' way back. Net systems greeted you with a challenge phrase, you typed it into your gadget, and whatever it spilled back at you was your password to log in at that time.

Sounds pretty gonk to us today, ik. However. Pixie says it's a good opportunity for you to show that you have some brains.

Your challenge phrase is: judgment

Get us the corresponding password.

We sabotaged the thing so it would not process any of the letters in your phrase. It'll just barf up an error if you try. Oh, and Pixie says it's also allergic to the letter 'o', for some reason.

Tell us what password should correspond to your challenge phrase. Deduce its inner workings. Do what you have to do. Break the thing if you need to. Just get us the correct password.

No point in calling us again, if you can't figure it out.

Good luck, choom!

Focus on the ASCII clue that was mentioned before, grab a pen and a paper...
(still stuck on where the password goes so I can't guarantee it's the right mindset tho)

I still play around to guess the password, but the thing you need is easy to find. Just look closer, it is hidden in a thing that stands out.

I'm also stuck on the password and don't know where to enter it. I'm still freaking out because I'm not sure that's really the password.)

Tried a few things about ASCII, but still nothing. Here, take a hint; Follow the second blue path until the end, something unexpected is waiting for you there

THAAAAAAANKS, I checked it thousands of times but I didn't see something so obvious... the password was wrong tho xd

I actually got it right the first ttime but I messed up the last part of the decoding. Take a hint: "An apple never falls too far from tthe tree"

Oh, nice then! Maybe this is one of the cases where I overthink and let a real easy answer slip. That would be the third time already hehe
Thanks for the hint! Still don't get it, but I'll add them to the case file~

Got the password relatively fast but then I was stuck on where to enter it. I almost gave up, but luckily didn't.
Great puzzle and nice GA!

GA ended by now, can somebody tell me how this was solved?

For finding 'judgment' code, simply type JUDGMENT in the box, and then shift the letters to their next ascii value.

And since I can never tell if I'm making sense to others or not, it'd be easier to show you -
Type AaBb in the box and you'll see the pattern.

Do we shift the letters of the generated password or JUDGMENT?

Edit: I guess I don't know enough puzzle solving because I still couldn't figure it out. Would appreciate the solution spelled out if someone has time.

shift the letters for the generated password.

as i said above, easier to see for yourself than me explaining. :)

I'm so dumb, I STILL don't get it lol. What do you mean shift the letters?

You couldn't use any letter from judgement, but if you would just write abc you would get GKO. From such experiments you could deduce there is a pattern - the same formula applied for each letter and most probably d would result in S

Yeah, this would probably work. Though the easier method is realizing AaBbCc gives FGJKNO, which means each lower case letter is one higher ASCII value character than it's uppercase one.
So you can just type JUDGMENT, get the answer and then shift each character in it by +1 and you'll get the code for judgment

Morak explained it a lot better, hopefully that resolves your confusion.

Just as a clarification to this:
Each letter you input will spit out another letter (or symbol like -];^ )as output. If you make a table with letters a-z and capitals A-Z and map each letter to its output, you may notice that the output of a lowercase letter is the output of the uppercase letter plus one on the ascii table.

for example an A outputs F, lowercase a outputs G (which is F+1)

Since the lower case letters of judgment won't output anything, you can put in JUDGMENT and shift the outputs by +1 to see what judgment should output.
