How much?
i have to admit i spent $120 on a horrible game called Marvel Heroes... i just had some fun when it was released on steam and started buying storage and skins.
also spent some money on dota, buying compendiums, points and items. not really sure how much i wasted there but it's probably around $100. at least i had some nice drops so i could get some money back.

Where's the option for "none", or at least "Less than 20 USD"? :P

I stay away from MMO's, but I would consider FF XIV RR since I played the Trial!

I played WoW from open beta until the first expansion...so I paid for 6-month subs from November 23, 2004 to January 16, 2007...so about US$250...oh, plus $50-$60 on the game. So upwards of $300.
That's by far the most I've ever spent on a game. Then again, I've only played one other MMO, and it was F2P. I probably sunk about $50 into that all told over a couple of years.

Multiple Eve Online accounts on and off since late 2009.

$213.55 on Dota 2 and I played that game for 2134h, so it's pretty much 1$ per 10h, which is ok and it's the only F2P game where I bought stuff and the only one deserving it.

Well, I used to play Ultima Online, which had a monthly fee. Played between late 1999 and early 2005, but I don't remember when they increased the subscription cost so I can't give a great estimate of how much it cost (originally it was 10€, but they increased it to close to 15€) Plus expansions, of course (started with T2A, got AoS, LBR & SE)

I used to spend a lot on mmos. >> lots of disposable income + lots of free time (my family is pretty wealthy, so I got a lot of money to live on when I was at uni) = lots spent. Probably ~£200 on maplestory, then £500 or so on dragon nest (I did win around £1000 from that game though, since there were a lot of events with cash prizes and I was best on server), around £100 on age of wulin and a bit on various others like archeage/dragon's prophet/aura kingdom. I don't really regret it, since I had a ton of fun playing them at the time. ^^
Oh, and a lot on league skins. :<

I've never spent a dime on a F2P game, but I did play Everquest for like 4-5 years. Plus, I bought the first 10 expansions. So, if you figure I spent $250 on expansions, plus another $720 on monthly fees, that's almost a grand on something that ended up feeling more like a job than a game. Plus, once I quit, I had nothing to show for it.

Something like $850-1000 total in all the years I played WoW. Don't really regret that at all, as I had a lot of fun until Cata. Ended up getting dragged back in late in MoP by an RL friend and guildmate, and still just felt burnt out on the game, so I've not bothered to pick up WoD and don't really plan to. In the heyday, though, I sure loved it and snagged all the CE xpacks through Cata.

I spent a bit over $100 in Combat Arms. Only $20 was out of pocket the rest I earned through Swagbucks, PrizeRebel, and NX Surveys. Thinking back I kind of regret it but you know...hindsight is 20/20.

Hi,
Question is for MMOs since offline games are usually buy once, unless it has lots of DLCs, like RockSmith or Train Simulator. On the other hand MMOs are usually Free2Play + Pay2Pretty, offering large amount of "ingame" items ranging from weapons, armor, upgrades and so on. Considering how much one loves the game, a player can spend a big sum for the "time" he spent since most MMOs will eventually die due their 'online' nature.
Been there, done that and spent good sum on a single game that I could've have spent on buying top games. But IMO it worth it. So what's your amount?
L5GA
Thx.
