Just wondering why there is suddenly a porn picture as the ad on the main page. Don't really think this is the kind of site that would have that as an ad, so I'm wondering if there's been a hack done either here or at the site the ads normally originate from.

As the ads on SG for me always seems to be from sites i visit and so forth so mostly pc/game related stuff...
Also you can use Adblock...

Yeah they can be,i know i have ended up on black list for stuff i said,as i have not broke any rules,ye some how ended up some lol :) Of course there might be the rare one for winning black listing me so i do not win another one of there,but still.

I've been skimming this thread and I have basically 2 things to add...
- Listen to jbondguy007. Good guy and is steering you right to solve your issue.
- BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK (Ad blockers, script blockers are a MINIMUM)

The market wants you to buy things. I'd say I'm extremely conservative with my finances. If I need something, I will be the one looking for it. I don't need ads to tell me what to buy. And it's not like the site makes money from ads I see but not click.
And of course, internet is much more convenient for me without ads. I didn't want that first paragraph to sound just like an excuse and nothing else.

But you like using this site no? The only reason the site is able to exist is with the money coming in from these ads. (And yes, depending on the ad network, there's often an amount paid for impressions and not just clicks)
My philosophy has always been: "if you don't like to see ads on some website, then just don't use that site, at all". To me, using adblock is basically stealing bandwidth from the site you're visiting. Every time you visit the site, cg has to pay for the bandwidth you're using and you chose to deprive him of the money to pay for that bandwidth.

In the first paragraph I tried to explain that I'm not gonna click on them anyway because I don't buy random things I wouldn't look for without ad's initiative. So what's the point of just having them on my screen and trying to overlook them? I might as well just remove them with adblock.

It doesn't matter whether you click on them or not, it's based on views. Simply put, when the ad shows up on your page the host of the site makes money for a "view". Disabling them means no views which means no money for sgifts. Considering how minimal the ads on this site are, the very least you can do is disable adblock.

It depends. I'm Greek and I always see Greek ads about furniture, games, etc. In your region, maybe they're mostly interested into porn, so they have more ads about it. :B

The add engine is either malfunctioning or broken for me. If it would show adds based on web searches I would get adds for:
- stock images.
- textures.
- 3d models.
- Air disasters.
- explosives.
- tree durability.
- Airplane durability.
- survivability in Aircraft collision with a tree. (only in very low speed scenarios, video games, Sci-Fi movies and conspiracy theories BTW)
- steel foundries.
- flammable liquids.
- removing yourself from FBI watch list.
Instead I get ads about building houses out of playing cards, and buying tanks. (or something like that, I wasn't really paying attention to them)

Some ads target your browsing history and pick an appropriate add to entice you more to click on it,
I recommend clearing your history after you've jacked it.....so to speak.
