If they are ingame I ask them if they are able to accept/activate the won game. If they are in some multiplayer or co-op game then I tell them to msg me when they are free.

If they're in a game, chances are, they might not have checked steamgifts to see that they've won or anything. I know sure as hell that when I get going in a game, I can go for hours in it at a time, and I will just ignore all the requests I get until I'm done.

Well, one guy insulted me once when I gave him a free game. And for what? for looking on his profile. Beat it.

No, but that's mostly because i don't want to annoy people while they are playing a game, i wait until they're done and then talk to them.

Mostly because it's a multiplayer game. If you're gone for 5 minutes your teammates will rage.

If someone did me that, I would ask for a reroll.

I did a videogame-secret santa where the person I gifted didn't say a single word to me. I didn't expect for a parade to be thrown in my honor, but a simple thank you would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, it really took the fun out of the event and I don't think I will participate next year. : - (

DotA is pretty serious depending on how you look at it.

The thing with DOTA is that, most of the time, you are playing in a team with random assholes who think they are very good players and blame whoever they want if the game doesn't goes well. Being AFK is a very good reason for them to blame you, insult you and report you, making you be unable to play for 24 hours.

You guys should really use the email adress that has been given by SG when the winner is picked. I always mail, or i send directly through Steam if i already have the person on my friendslist.

Well, when a game doesn't have a pause it's ruder to the people you were already playing with to just go afk.
Of course if he made you wait more then for that game to finish, you are entitled to blame and insult them. :)

I got this all the time when I was hosting tournaments with game prizes on Jedi Academy. But I jest it's a different thing, since most people there were honestly in for the fun and not the games, and not a lot of people had Steam there.

Dota is pretty bad about pausing or going away for a bit. It's completely understandable that he put you on hold for a bit, because if you leave or stay afk for too long, you ruin the game for the other players and get put in low priority, which means you'll be playing with abusive ragequiters for a week or so, which isn't fun.

Meh, I just email it to them and they can thank me or not in their own time.

League of legends is better so they have no excuse it's only Dota.

The Dota community will rip you a new one if you so much as think about leaving to take care of something.

As long as they're polite about it, I would give them some time.
