Will you consider the Epic Game Store your new default library?
Next Game: Yooka-Laylee
It could also be Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair but I kinda doubt it.

Epic announced that one of the games they would give away was also one of the top streamed/watched games of the year.
Fortnite :)

To be fair...as far as I know (please correct me if I'm wrong), Epic never announced that...it was just some fortnite guy on twitter (who was probably just trying to boost his followership):
https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/FXf2D0Z
And then people automatically assumed that ony the Top10 counts as "popular"...not Top20 or Top50 or whatever.
I'm still hoping that they may have something nice up their sleeves and not just end it with Yooka Laylee. GTA V wouldn't be such a bad pick for them, because of the reasons you already mentioned (cheap, boost online-mode, RDR2), but who knows.
It was probably just wishful thinking that turned this guess into a "leak" :3

Epic pays the devs for each copy they give us for free. It's really a win win for the devs, us and Epic also. The devs get paid, we get a free game and Epic brings in new people to their client as well as gives existing users of the Epic client more games to play which keeps people on the client which also has the possibility of making them customers who spend money on their gaming client.
So really GTA V could be a game given to us for free. Not saying it's going to happen but there is a chance it could. I wouldn't rule out any game tbh, unless the dev team/publisher stated they won't.

Usually me, but they really got me this month with all the offers.. lunch for 2€? No respectable place can compete with those prices. Doesn't help that they're a stone's throw away from the office. (2 full buildings closer than burger king)

how to check your game library on epic without the client !!!!

Huge smile on my face over this. Was upset that I missed it when it was only $15 on Amazon's Black Friday sale, but this softens that blow. My only wish is that Epic would get achievements on their client so that I could keep some sort of track of the challenges out-of-game

well they are go back to free games per week it seems

Today I was checking my whole epic library and I realized there are several really good games for me to play.
I was able to grab all the free games so far and many are not repeats from other platforms for me.
I started marking the ones I'm wanting to try, I use gog2, which is really convenient for that.
Probably Abzu, Tabs, Slime Ranchers, Everything, Celeste.
Any advice on good picks?

I liked the Edith Finch game. Walking sim with good environment graphics and a bit of a mystery to unravel, maybe not everyone's cup of tea but I would have bought that sooner or later if it hadn't been free on Epic.

Inside is a must play. FTL and Into the Breach are both great strategy games. Fez is one of the best puzzle platformers but it's brutally difficult if you're the completionist type; it's up there with The Witness as the most difficult games I've ever played. Super Meat Boy is a classic straight-up platformer that's very satisfying and a joy to play in short bursts.

So what’s going on? Can someone come up with a reason why this is still a bad deal without any redeeming qualities?
What about it being a 13th game when they only spoke about 12? That’s lying and dishonest, no? Or or, what about the number 13 being bad luck? No, no, you know what? They probably extorted team17 to give them YL: IL and we’re all celebrating it like it’s a good thing, all the while, team17 is losing money because of Epic. Come on people, use your imaginations!

What's difference between getting games free from Epic or pirated version? actually you getting same product - spyware launcher =) No wishlist, No forums, No reviews, No gifting/trading, No community market, No achievements/Cards,Bad customer service, Hacked accounts and bugs everyday, Paid exclusives and not even shopping cart :D actually they don't even have place to write about giveaways and you're commenting on STEAMgift about Epic store =) What do you expect?

hehe dont even bother to explain to fan boys the truth ...
smthing free is always accepted ,lets bless piracy that put some mind into publishers of music and video games not to ask a fortune for smthing that its digital and infinite! and leave others cry for spyware and viruses

It's cool to cheer for taking PC gaming client experience back to the stone age as long as some forum vultures get some games they won't even play. There's no cards to get from idling on Epic guys!-Are you sure those freebies are so great?
Comment has been collapsed.
Woahhhhhh you save 60seconds of loading time? Far out man that's some high standards on what a client should provide in 2019. I guess Epic was truly the king of PC gaming all along.

Only people who pay lip service to Epic client are experts I'm guessing. You offered a single benefit, over "bells and whistles" which I refer to as basic standards. If I want another bare bones,POS client I can just fire up my Origin,Uplay,Bethesda,Battle Net clients. Where's the competitor who actually tries to offer a better service then Valve?
Comment has been collapsed.
Well that's the thing I do have issues with all of them. Origin feels just as bad in 2019 as it was in like 2013 when EA made it which retroactively makes me use it extremely rarely to play my games. Bethesda client was so awful I actively stopped using it regardless of what I felt about the games there. Funnily enough none of them have their own defense force like Epic. At least all of those companies used their own developed exclusives to try and trap people in inferior user exprerience.

The difference is,again none of those companies clients were celebrated like "the much need competition PC gaming stores/clients" needed. Regress wasn't sold as progress. The comment that actually spawned this entire thing by oAxleo acts like Epic is beyond fault. Only unreasonable people can have problems with em right? Epic makes people have as big of a chip on their shoulder as the one you try to paint on me.

There are things I don't like about EGS (company and client), but I still use their client occasionally and visit this thread. Nothing changes or gets better if everyone is complacent. That goes for EGS, Steam, the government, the music you play ... well, just about everything in life.
Neither of you are wrong (in my opinion, which also isn't right or wrong lol) - you're fine with the status quo, and he isn't. Anyway, Happy New Year, and hope you get plenty of free time for gaming. :3
Edit: I hope Buried also reads this comment. Happy New Year to you as well, Buried.

Actually, although it lacks bells and whistles
It doesn't just lack bells and whistles, it lacks some of the most basic functions most every other site/client includes.
I mean, come on, no shopping cart? And during a sale? It's been over a year already ...
Comment has been collapsed.
The cynic in me kind of thinks people should be glad for the lack of a cart lol. Definitely reduces the likelihood of impulse purchasing
It certainly stopped me from buying the DLC for a game I play, because I didn't want to deal with separate transactions for each DLC.
I can excuse them going through two Christmases without gifting options, but the shopping cart thing has gone a little too long.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thought it was great there was STILL no cart: this way I was forced to receive a new E10 coupon with each GAME instead of once per PURCHASE. I certainly hope they'll not forget to disable any cart-functionality they might implement in the meantime, before the next sale starts! ;-))

Bells and whistles are important for me. While I don't care about trading cards or achievements, I want to see people's opinions on games, especially unknown ones, before I might buy them. Also I want to have a place to discuss with other players about my thoughts or game bugs. Other functions like game filters, game recommendation, or updated information of developers are somehow useful. Epic store has started over one year ago but it seems they have only used their money to add more exclusive titles without decorating their system with "bells and whistles".

There is a second icon next to the darksiders one and the date below says Free Jan 01 - Jan 09 so probably a new set of games rather than the '12 days of xmas'

They seem to be returning to weekly freebies from tomorrow. Not sure how long they intend to keep that going though. I thought it was only until the end of 2019. Not complaining though.

DS2 is better than Ds2, but a bit worse than DS1, which is still better than DS1 while more punishing. But DS3, I somehow don't like it, but DS is alot better than the predecessor, and has longer battery life! Fortunately 3DS is downwards-compatible, but not with DS2 nor VirtualBoy.

Darksiders II (deathinitive ed.) is not perfect, but I find the bosses much better balanced than DS1. It is an ideal game to slash away a few hours after a hard day's work. The game also has a quite nice look, I love the "The story so far...." recap by the narrator, and finally, the sound of throwing doors open is completely memorable :)
