because sometimes its just meant as an honest indication of appreciation and realisation that another human being as at the other end of that gift? I used to say thanks a lot for precisely that reason, but with so many people going crazy with blacklisting, and the addition of sending those annoying notifications to the gifter that i've left a message, i've felt the need to cut back... and i actually feel bad about that. I like to let people know that i give enough of a shit about their generosity to take a moment leave a message and acknowledge them as a person and not a gifting machine, but you never know who is going to appreciate it and who is going to get upset about it any more. steamgifts has become more and more hostile every year. This place used to be fun...

Who are you, CIA? FBI? How could you know this incredible stuff??

They're trying to troll you by cramming your message inbox so full of crap, you won'tbe able to find any significant messages someone is writing to you under one of your giveaways, or any of your forum replies, amongst all of the junk.

I tend to only say thanks in specific group give aways, if the description asks for it, or if I win the game. It's looks kind of annoying otherwise, even though I'm genuinely thankful.

+1.
If people feel it's spam, or they don't like clutter in their inbox (something that was not an issue in SGv1), then they can request entrants NOT say thanks.

I'm thankful for everyone chipping in to giveaway//raffle games naturally. I'll thank occasionally in a thread, always when I win through chat or email. I just don't really care that much when I see most people being ingrates making moronic thanks rules and threats. So I'll just enter. The only thing I'll take notice of is the partial dlc, 50% rules/requests or own more then 1 (or certain some) in bundle will be a reroll. I'll usually say thanks for chance if there are no "thanks rules". If you are going out of your way to make thanks rules and make threats I'll still enter, I just don't care for that sort of entitled attitude, it makes you come off as an elitist jerk. There should just be an option to have "no commentary" when I create a giveaway because for me, if I'm giving something away I'm giving it out of the goodness of my heart. I know some will be thankful and most not care. So maybe just even have a little thank you bar counter, click on it and it says 12356 Thanks! Can even keep commentary and maybe half the people would just click the lil thank you smiley, even keep separate unique ids in the raffle and out if people just want to thank you. There could be a better no spam thank you system sure. You can't really change a thanks :). You want a begging thanks? No thanks? A doting worshiping on the knees omg thanks? Maybe a I'll black list you thanks? Ya, great, perfect, keep being classy internet.

I think it's somehow rude to enter a giveaway without saying at least ''Thanks''

I enter maybe 1-3 giveaways a day and post a thank you. Apparently, I am a bot or running a script and have been blacklisted for saying thank you to giveaway creators. I have also been blacklisted for NOT saying thank you or posting a random cat picture when entering a giveaway. Whats a person bot to do?

If I comment, I usually try to make pun or a joke either around the game name, the game image or the description given by the person. I remember back in the old SG comment ratios were a thing. If your comment to entry ratio was too low you might be excluded from some private giveaways. Some people also threatened to blacklist if you didn't say anything too.

Yes, it seems to be whatever is popular opinion at the time. To say thanks or not, to have comments =/= entries or more than. It is sometimes confusing, but it is also whatever, I do what the description asks (within reason), if it has nothing, I do nothing.
Also, Happy Pie Day with candles on it

Well people are saying thanks to show some gratitude.
I was used to say thanks without using bot or anything but now im not writting anything because some peoples like to be different and will say they hate it (Saying thanks can hurt people really badly you know!..lol)

I say thanks whenever I feel like the game being given away is pretty cool or otherwise feel like it, to show a little of my appreciation. I don't do it everytime though. There's bots that do this for you? That's crazy! I can understand that causing problems, but if the main annoyance in the end is just because of Notifications, then maybe we should request an option to not be informed about comments on giveaways? That seems like a far simpler solution than blacklisting everybody that would like to say thanks to you (which is a very polite and nice thing to do and you really can't always differentiate a bot from a person) :)

I find it kind of weird how something can have like 50 comments and all of them are just "Thanks!!!" "Thanks :)" or something like that. It makes it look like everybody is just spamming it.
