Overrated - The GTA series,
Underrated - idk... Beyond Good & Evil maybe? :P It's an amazing game.

Edit: oh, and another overrated is Warcraft.

Skyrim.

If it was the first of it's kind, yeah, I think it would warrant all the uprating it gets. As it stands, it's just a continuation of the same games Bethesda has been making since Morrowind. (Except with your effect on the world being even less.) It's not a bad game, but it's not the second coming of Christ either- it's the second coming of Oblivion with some improvements and some features taken out.

Terribly underrated. It's not a perfect game, but it definitely is original

Overrated: Braid

As an Elder Scrolls fan, it makes me sad to see the TES games get such a bad rap here. (At least nobody mentioned The Sims games yet though; although the idea of giving Sims magic abilites, with the first's Makin' Magic and the third's upcoming Supernatural addons, seems a bit overhyped for me...)

As for my picks:

Overrated: Halo 2, Zelda Skyward Sword (it's generated the most annoying fanboy-gushing that I've ever seen for any Zelda game), Pikmin (even the game's name makes it sound like a Pokemon ripoff), most tactical army FP shooters (i.e. Battlefields/CoDs), most football/baseball/basketball/hockey sports games.

Underrated: The Etrian Odyssey game series, the FATE game series.

Most underrated: Puzzle Quest. Seriously, these games are awesome and my nobody will believe me. Most overrated are any Call of Duty game :P

id say Psychonauts,got it on the winter sale for $2.50 cause the humor is great and everypony praises it + farming coal,but i just got the achievement and never went back,i prefer to just play Mario64,BK,Rayman,etc instead.

Underrated Flower Sun & Rain, Overrated that piece of shit of Metal Gear Solid 2, they're both attempt at videogame postmodernism with the difference that the first is incredibly ahead even for ouR timeS, while the second is just a failure with no real content, the funny thing is that they both came out in the same year

Overrated: Every game by Valve. Sure many of them are great, but nowhere near as good as the praise they get and other than Half-Life and the first Portal, they've been pretty mediocre compared to other major studio titles.

Underrated: Crusader Kings II, Sins of a Solar Empire, Mirror's Edge.

Most overrated= Diablo 3,Call Of Duty Series
Most underrated= Delta force series,Delta force xtreme 2 only has about 100 people that bought it,maybe like a few more :|

Overrated: Any MMORPG EVER(RuneScape gets special mentioning); Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 3; Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3; Far Cry 2; RUSH; Halo series; Counter-Strike.

Underrated: Serious Sam 2 and 3; F.E.A.R. 3; Hard Reset; Portal 2(kinda); Orcs Must Die!; Jamestown and other bullet hell games(a lot of people avoid them like the plague); Any other game that I haven't mentioned yet. :D

Overrated Skyrim/Torchlight 2/Arma 2 CO
Underrated morrowind, cs 1.6

Overrated: Call of duty series (everything after Call of Duty 4). Battlefield. (FPS in general), Fortix. Almost all AAA title because they spend to much money on hyping a game.

Overrated:Every Call of Duty since CoD4
Underrated: Croc: Legend of the Gobos

Oblivion and most indie games seem very underrated nowadays. Overrated? Call Of Duty (All of them), Battlefield, and maybe even Skyrim. Minecraft is pretty close to overrated. Also, I keep on hearing bad things about great games like Bastion, and even the Half-Life series. Does that make them underrated?

Over: TF2 . It's alright, to me it's just another FPS.

for me, Dota 2 seems way over-rated... don't get me wrong - it seems like a pretty good game, I just couldn't get into it,
but all the hype and excitement and people falling over themselves lying cheating stealing to get a shot at playing it, I even
got goosebumply hoping for a copy and when I got it, I played about 30 minutes and was so frustrated I haven't even attempted to
do anything else with it.

and P.A.M. is under-rated - I think it's a total blast but most people treat it like the plague

Underrated: Dustforce, Dungeons of Dreadmor, and some games I own that I haven't bothered to play yet.
