what do you think is the most overated and underated games ?

There are too many overrated games to chose from, but the most underrated game IMO would be Hidden & Dangerous 2 + the Sabre Squadron expansion. The original H&D2 is a stealthy realistic squad based WW2 game. Think of it like the original Rainbow 6 set in WW2. Sabre Squadron added more missions and coop. I still have both on CD, but I'd buy them again if they came out on GoG or even Steam.

Overrated = every Blizzard game (I played nearly everyone of them and they weren't that bad but by far not as good as people say)

Underrated = NOLF (No One Lives Forever), awesome game ^^

         Edit: American McGees Scrapland was also a nice game, but nobody knows is :O

I dunno, but I find Limbo extremely overrated. I didn't enjoy it too much. Magicka wasn't so good for me either.

On the other hand, I think Monkey Island isn't as popular as it should be.

I will tell you why people don't like Far cry 2. At first it looks awesome, free roam, not bad weapon collection, freedom to choose who to work for. But then it gets repetitive. Always same missions. Accept a mission & get diamonds, go blow shit up or kill someone, occasionally they counter offer, choose who to kill. Rinse and repeat... Not to mention the story is crappy. The devs had a great idea, but somewhere in the middle they got lazy. Hopefully Far cry 3 won't the the same repetitive stuff.

Half life is WELL overrated.

Battlefield 3 is the most overrated piece of shit ever made. Underrated is a tie between Duke Nukem Forever and Deus Ex Invisible War
Edit: I forgot that overrated is also tied with Minecraft and binding of Isaac for shittiest games ever.

Halo Wars for most underrated, actually enjoyed it a lot.

over-rated: diablo 3 and dead island... they take the lead by miles upon miles...

Underrated games imo: Medieval 1 + 2 for the Playstation

Lol, after reading several comments of users who believe that games like Skyrim and Halflife are overrated should probably dig a hole, jump in and never crawl out there again..

Theres a difference between overrated games that cost 60 bucks and everbody knows they suck even if they got a 95/100 rating - and games that are obviously MAINSTREAM and everbody buys it but not because they were overhyped or got paid reviews to put them in a better light as they really are, no they are REALLY GOOD! So funny, never met people who say Half Life is a overrated game until I joined a STEAM related community, weird stuff really.

Any fps these days are overrated, and all shoot'em ups are underrated. Seems like the Shmup genre is dying and the market is getting diluted with fps's.

al games ar tha shit i tell ya, for kids and i am pro adult (16) player and this games are tha best and underrated because im a hipster - all that I like. Rest sucks and is too mainstream pure shit lololo

Overrated - Halo series. Unbelievably boring generic FPS. Never understood hype about it.
Underrated - to some degree: Bulletstorm, Psychonauts, Space Marine. By underrated I don't mean they should be praised as 10+ AAA titles, but the were really good games and I think they deserve more recognition.

Underrated: Viva Pinata... I own both games for the 360 and every time i mention it all i get is "You're Joking right?". The countless hours you spend tending to your garden and collecting Pinatas is quite fun in the end, and owning Dastardos with the Shovel is priceless.

Overrated: Diablo III i own the game I've played through it on every difficulty except Inferno cause I am in no means wasting my time gearing up for it. It is fun to an extent, but after a while it's boring as hell and I don't think I've played it in at least 1 month but I may go back to it cause I am feeling the need to slay unicorns and cupcakes :P.

The Elder Scrolls . There are dozens of better rpgs openworld or not. But meme sites had to explode with messages like "HUUURRR DUUUUR SKYRIM GOODBIE GURLFRIEND ARROW KNEE"

OVERRATED: Team Fortress 2. I don't think it's so much overrated by critics and the press, but by the people who actually play it. It's like a religion to most of my friends.

UNDERRATED: Singularity, all the way. It's more like Bioshock 2 than Bioshock 2 was.

Overrated: A tie between Half-Life 2(or just about any Valve game) and The Elder Scrolls series. Underrated: Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelists of the Roses, Digimon World (eh, probably not).

Most overrated game: any recent Call of Duty. Most underrated game of recent memory: Medal of Honor (2010) the single player was amazing.
