Unless they're just being really slow loading stuff, community voting is over and so are 12 hour deals. 2 day Encore sale is all that is left. I have to say this has been the worst Steam seasonal sale I've ever seen. Even the Halloween sale was better.

Ouch, I was hoping to actually complete a badge for once. Oh well, time to sell cards for absolutely nothing again.

I picked up some basic stuff like How to Survive+All DLC, Rise of Nations and Bully Scholarship Ed. nothing special. The games I am mainly interested in are the Telltale Game of Thrones/Borderlands, and This War of Mine but they're new releases so it's understandable that they didn't get a big discount. I'll probably pick up The Long Dark from some trader when I get my next paycheck, it's cheap with or without a discount anyway.

funny thing about this, is all you people whining about 'worst sale ever' will still be among the first ones lining up with your wallet open next time valve has a sale.

I actually think the sale went rather well for me. I managed to cross the 1000 game threshold and grab a number of games from my wishlist at some good prices. Though I do agree that a number of daily discounts were pretty meh. I also got some great deals from GMG, Humble Bundle, GOG, and, surprisingly, GameAgent (snagged Borderlands 2 GOTY + all 5 Headhunter packs + Ultimate Vault Hunter upgrade pack 2 for $10 and change). My wallet will hate me for quite sometime, but it was well worth it.

Had $170 in Steam wallet ready for the sale. I now have $165.50...

The sale was just so... boring.

Sadly, they still have your money. I really HATE wallet and avoid it as much as possible.

Had $50 in mine for over 6 months, spend most now on presents but i wont be doing that again in a hurry. Alternative stores till Steam/Valve make an effort and stop being jerks.

As outrageous as it sounds, all of that is from card sales plus my fire sale of all TF2/DOTA2 Keys when trading got nerfed. If this sale is any indication of the future, I'll be riding out these wallet funds for quite some time!

Crap or not : You have spent approximately $56.67 USD in the store since the sale began.
Got some good gifts for friends and nice games for me so cant really complain.
Steam auction was also worthy for me.

Such broad statement.

I am enjoying this sale. Bought well 150 USD on this Winter Sale.

Edit: You have spent approximately $149.44 USD in the store since the sale began.

Hm, my memory is correct :)

I sold my csgo knife and got a bunch of games this sale.

"You have spent approximately $214.30 USD in the store since the sale began."

Got some nice games from my wishlist, and I didn't use anything from my credit card and still have more leftover on my steam wallet. I am pretty satisfied with the sale.

Steam sales are pretty damn good, especially if you have a number of games that you wish to acquire. However, I haven't been very moved by the sale, and if you're into crafting (or just making a couple extra dollars for games in the market) you probably are disappointed about the lack of an incentive to craft during the sale on the scale of the summer sale. While it is nice that the community choice no longer requires you to diligently ensure that you have voted in each eight-hour time period, the choices seemed underwhelming both in terms of steepness of discount and relevance of title (there were a couple software-only votes), even after you account for their frequency being reduced by a third. Then I think there seems to be fewer hot AAA titles that people were looking forward to this winter, as well as less impressive discounts on the ones that have recently released than in sales past, though one of these things has no relationship with the Steam sale itself, even indirectly.

Don't be too harsh in judging people who are complaining about the sale. Most of these people have been through several of these and just expect to feel the tug of the Steam Sale/Gaben meme; an inability to resist the Steam sale's hunger for your cash. I felt no such urge, no pleasant helplessness in the face of deal after deal. I have felt it in the past. Because I did not feel it, I instinctively demerit this sale in comparison to the sales of the past.

Of course, if I didn't own the games I have acquired through numerous bundles and past Steam sales I probably would have dropped a Benjamin on this sale easily, so that's a factor. It's tough to jizz in your pants when you jizzed the hell out of a couple pairs earlier.

main problem for me is that majority of sale "deals" is just repated sales from before, the amounts of discount were exactly the same if not worse, all in all it ended just being glorified re-sale condensating previous deals, with few exceptions of some newer titles which ended too expensive anyway. Add to that no cheaper games from russia and steam suddenly isnt as attractive anymore, a lot of other stores ends up cheaper in comparision to steams 75% off.
Extreme example, I could get some games in local stores BOXED for significantly less than on steam during sale, and they provide you a steam key for activation as well.

LOL local stores. Boxed copies. You're funny.

Also, all Steam sales have repeat deals from earlier sales. AAA titles plateau for a long time in the $20 range after their initial fall from AAA prices.

I only see 3 sales (all of them I did not buy anything) and this is the first time I join a steam sale.
I was expected something grand but comparing what valve did in the past sales. This isn't a good sale.
but in the discount sections is good. but overall isn't.
Unless if valve is preparing us to something grand after the sale. Let's say the "GRAND ANNOUNCEMENT OF HALF-LIFE 3" I rated this sale as 4/10.

pros

  • great discount

cons

  • Too little side-content.

Steam can't give us tons of free/cheap stuff because of limits. This sale is no unique expect the expensive auction.

Feels like there's been less 80-90% off deals, especially in flash deals than normal, and the gimmick this year didn't appeal to me. others may feel different

Greenman gaming had a really good sale. Their prices were cheaper than Steam Sale Prices on certain games.

Yeah I bought quite a bit from Greenmangaming and Newegg. They had the best prices with discount codes.

GMG really sucks in Hungary - their nominal $ prices are great, but otherwise they have VAT, count the prices in british pounds (overcharged quite a few times) and they are overpriced to begin with - with the 20% discounts they are quite similar to steam. But indeed, it's always good to have another store to buy from if they have a deeeep discount on the game you want, it can be quite a deal.

I got few games and there were some decent deals, but compared to previous sales, that I have been witnessed (since 2012 winter sale), it was pretty poor and I have to agree with Comic Book Guy.

Worst Steam sale ever!! Amazon had way better deals. More than half the items I was gonna buy from my wish list I ended up getting cheaper there or GMG or Gamersgate.
