Mac games look way better than IBM PC versions.... wait this isn't the 80's why would you even think about buying a mac and paying more for less of a computer, as far as I can see the only thing I can see that Apple's computers have going for them theses days is that they are probably more accessible to those who have never used a computer before. If you are sick of Microsoft (and who can blame you) you might as well install linux, but if you care about gaming you will still need windows.

Mostly a case of a small fish in a big pond, no one bothers to with it when there are giant steaks all around.

this. I've been running around in the DMZ with no virus or spyware scanner for years and i've not gotten a virus. People challenge me all the time on this shit and when i show em the scans they're like LOL WELL YOU SHOULD AT LEAST HAVE ONE JUST IN CASE. No, if you're not an idiot, you don't need that shit sucking up your resources and tabbing you out of your games to inform you (program) HAS BEEN UPDATED. SCAN COMPLETE, NOTHING FOUND.

Trolls will tell you no, they're not. Competent people, however...Will say the same thing. Don't waste your money on an overpriced piece of hardware that's overpriced solely because the brand thinks it's worth something. If you wanna waste your money, go get some alienware. At least you'll have bought overpriced shit -and- have windows!

I wouldn't go Mac, mac isn't virus free - they're less common. As the userbase builds, so do exploits - I know plenty of mac users who have foregone security because they think they're immune from attacks.
I'd say honestly, don't buy in to the apple infrastructure. Pay for your own hardware and build it yourself, you'll get the greatest sense of pride from it - the most performance too!
If you're looking to make music, Ableton is miles better than garageband! I'd so as far as saying any benefit mac users believe they have is all in their mind, neither are superior but at least with windows you get the benefit of a wider userbase and being able to upgrade easily/cost effectively.
On the other hand, I've uaed macs for work and love the OS for designing... but that's all I'd care to use one for.
EDIT: If you're looking to build, I'll be happy to give you a couple of sites for looking at resources and getting the best build for your budget!

I think Mac's are for video editors, designers, music makers, etc. because the OS is much more stable than the Windows OS (so if they working on a project, the OS don't freeze randomly out)...However, on the other hand, it performs very bad when it comes to gaming.
Use your 800$ on a normal PC, with Windows 7/Windows 8 on it. It's the best option for gaming.

I got a mac for my birthday, and Icant say it is that bad.
I havent seen many problems, but the can get pretty damn overheated.
For 800 euro I would buy a badass gaming pc.

I say go with Linux. You get the small userbase, so less viruses. It is a lot cheaper (free) than buying a Mac, which both developed from Unix. Gaming using wine, also applies with MAC, is pretty decent. There is also now the native Linux client. Thus, it is a good time for Steam gaming on Linux.

Most games for the PC platform are made for Windows

It's about time I upgrade my computer. At the moment I am running a machine that's 4 years old or even more and therefore is seriously outdated. My parents basically let me choose any computer within 800 euros or so, considering the fact that I won't need an upgrade in the next 4 years and it will be super comfortable in all ways.
So I can choose from very powerful gaming PC or not so powerful, but still very fascinating and slim i7 Mac mini(2012).
The question is, will it do for gaming? I am asking you, fellow steamgifters, who might have a mac here. Would you say Mac satisfies your gaming needs?
P.S. Also there is option to install Win7 on Mac and get access to all brand-new PC games like Bioshock Infinite, but from what I saw on youtube, it won't run on specs greater than low and there is risk of overheating the system. Still, I would love to hear your comments and suggestions
P.S.S. I am considering Mac not just because it's slim or it's just Apple, but because I love its virus-free OS and some specific programs like Garage band
Thanks in advance!
