Steam Beta has ended?

So I've got Steam running when all of a sudden it has to be restarted because of a beta ending? What beta ended? Anyone else experience this?

Not really worried. I just want to know what beta ended, because I don't remember using any betas for steam

I think it was related to Linux mainly and changes like improvements on the chat (offline messages etc).
There was a changelog, but I skipped it quickly :)

They've made some changes for all the clients, so I guess it affected windows too.

Yes, current round of beta is done and they updated everyone.

I didn't sign up for either. I even declined the restart to check if I was participating in the beta.

The Steam Linux Beta ended and the Update message was shown on all versions of Steam during its normal update.

So why did this appear even though I've chosen to opt out of their betas. Is it a bug?
