Lucky you! I've noticed once cards start dropping they come a little more frequently.

Few questions:

  1. Steam key or Steam store purchase?
  2. How long ago did you get it on your account? More than 2 weeks ago, or only recently?

Just happened for me for the first time (I can confirm if it happens for other games as well later). The game was Grimm. And it was:

1 - A key
2 - Recently (19/10)

Maybe Steam finally found a way to exclude key purchases from the 2 hours before card thing, hmm...definitely going to have to take a look!

The game my cards dropped on I bought through Steam. I did buy it recently though, this past weekend.

That is weird then. Hope they are not going back on their refund policy, and I don't even know if they can do that.

Maybe its a bug? Or maybe they want people to idle most cards as they possibly can to spend on the sale? heheh

Could be a bug? Maybe I'll try out another game I bought through Steam and haven't played yet that drops cards as well. If the sale is good enough I'll idle all of my games haha

I don't think its related to any game, because so far its happening to more people and on different games.

I dunno the reason of it tho, because this directly affects the refund policy (as the 2h minimum was to prevent people to buy games, drop cards and ask for refund).

So or they will change the rules for refunds, or it is a bug, or they've found a way to combine both (like reverting sales of cards once you ask for a refund and played less than 2h? It would be a lot of trouble tho and we all know Valve always goes for the simple solutions).

Dunno. Really strange. :S

PS: As I was typing I was testing another game, Quantum Rush Champions. 10 minutes, 1 card. Also key, not bought.

That makes sense, since I can't ask for a refund on it, right. If so, this is great.

I recently activated my retail key for Resident Evil 5 and I'm 10 hours into the game and there is still one card drop left.

Yep, can confirm, it is weird, I'm farming Grimm cards in an alt account and got one in like 5 min.

I can also confirm, I just started playing a game I hadn't played yet and already got two cards from it in less than an hour of game play

what about refunds, can someone drop cards and ask for a refund if they played less than 2 hours?
Doesn't look like something Valve would want to Fix

Hmmm, if it's key's I can understand -- they mark those as "Retail" in your licenses and product key activations, so they're easy to distinguish from Steam purchases, which are marked as "Steam Store."

I'm curious whether or not the 2 hours still applies to Steam Store purchases - I kinda hope so, since people will abuse the crap out of it to farm cards. It never made any sense for key activations or gifts, though ....

I think I might have some purchases from Steam wallet on this account with pending cards, I will check it and edit this post in probably ~10 mins (soon as I can verify).

EDIT: Only had Payday: The Heist with pending cards, but this I bought last week from Steam Store. But its 2.5GB and I'm watching streams, so 10~15min to download.

Strange, you'd think there would be something about this on the Steam forums, but I just looked through several sections and found nothing about it ...

Yep, but it is very recent I can say that, cause I've been farming cards for hours now to get ready for the sale and Grimm was the first game on which this happened (it happened like 5-10 min before this topic was posted here.

Question, were you actually ingame, or using idlemaster?
If you were ingame, were you playing, or alt-tabbed?

EDIT Maybe cards only drop fast if you've installed the game? No luck so far with idlemaster.

Me too. I was playing Door Kickers and got a card 15 min in. This is a game I bought from the steam store in July but have not played until now.

That's probably because the deadline to ask for refund ended, even if you haven't played the game for the minimum 2 hours.

Alright, I just played a game I purchased on Steam several months ago and never played before. 10 minutes later and I got a card drop. I think this is happening to every game right now despite if its a steam purchase or a key

With IdleMaster, I was idling 3 games at the same time: Abyss Odyssey(bougth yesterday evening on HB), Insurgency(like Abyss) and Trapped Dead(bougth on GMG with credits, yesterday). They dropped simultaneously their first card after 10-15m.

I always wondered why Steam doesn't allow refunds for all games and just deduct whatever profits the "player" received if he/she gets a refund for the game. It seems like the obvious solution, and one which would not hurt developers or Valve in any way (and of course not allow users to abuse the system).

The problem would likely be that if the player trades the card to someone else who trades it to someone else, or someone burns it for gems to pay for part of a booster pack to get some cards to sell or trade. It is known to be possible to reverse the transactions but it is not any simple matter and the greater the amount of time involved, the larger the potential impact. It's far more efficient from an operational standpoint to just not bother and that is not even considering the economic instability that would be created if such a thing were implemented. The abuse of card drops with refund started almost immediately after refunds became available and the 2 hour delay before drops shortly after that was a direct response to the abuse.

I had one set of cards drop fast, then did another game and the cards went back to 2 hour delay. Might be a one time bug. Anyone get a second set to drop fast?

I think drop card time is depend on the game itself. That's from my experience when wait card drops~

Odd, I've been having the opposite problem lately, with cards taking like 45 minutes between drops (after the two hour delay before the first drop). These are with games I added as keys, and I'm using Idle Master. (I don't generally notice how long cards take to drop when I'm actually playing the game, lol.)

Same however it's taking me 2-2 and a half hours per card drop .-.

I'm playing Divinity Original Sin now - 2 hour delay and ~45min card delays as usual.

I just got my first card drop in The Howler (from a Steam Gift that I had traded for) after only 10 minutes of play time! Really hope this isn't a temporary bug...

Just tried it myself - got a first card drop after about 15 minutes in The Ship, which is a game I won and activated the key.

I guess because I didn't purchase it myself?

Really weird... but I can confirm it. 18 minutes into a game and I got the first card.

Thank god Idle Master still has an option to idle games one at a time.

Got an early drop in MK X (<86 min), thought it was just a fluke.
