I am using it for a projet semestriel in one of my classes. I suppose that may be called a term paper? I have never been in an English school system so I'm not too familiar with the particular terms.
And no problem! I'm pleased the choice of games seems to be going over well haha

I hope you don't mind I rated all thieves 1. Theft is bad, people!

I have to admit I stopped half way because someone's orientation isn't affecting anything for me, so if "thief & doctor" are 2 of the 3 words, all of my answers for gay / straight / bi would be the same and I got a little bored filling it out.. Sorry if there was more to it, maybe a female voice among all the male responses would have been helpful but I'm tired ;_;

That's quite alright. I know it's long and it honestly was more of the same. I don't expect orientation to affect the responses a whole lot. Perhaps there may not even be a significant effect at all. But disproving hypotheses is still useful, right? hehe

Far too many variations of the same stuff. At the end it's just bloody annoying, which surely will skew the results - Is that the result you're looking for?

tbh, I think that sequence of offered persons affects the result more than their sexual orientation. You'd be happy to see even the most incompetent gay mechanic after passing through the bunch of thieves. But you won't be so impressed finding him after you've met some enthusiastic and friendly doctors.

Nice idea and nice giveaway. I do agree with Ashema, I would never say I would like a person by just merely 3 words. The next point is, there is no context in which way the words are meant. An unlucky doctor, doesn't necessarily mean he is bad in his job or to his patients. So in the end you just break it down to words you like and don't like, which makes this end pretty fast. Thief bad, Doc good. Cruel bad rest seems normal.
Maybe for another essay, try to get a timer in how much time the test has been passed. This way you can check if the entry is valid or how fast it took ppl to choose a pattern. This offers way more data to work with.

Yeah. The descriptions are much too short to form a proper impression. Perhaps my translation of the instructions could have been clearer. But really it is just looking at words and what people think of them, rather than actual people behind those words.
Indeed a timer would be useful. I was a little worried that people would find the timer stressful but maybe that's just me haha

That's just the way how you present it. Simply use a scoreboard - best times or something like that. If there are patterns that offer the same words in a different order you can use those to check them and give some nice words in the end like all those pointless Facebook forms.Like: Are you a good person yes/no, answer some pointless questions ^^

Hey everyone!
I'm doing some research on impression formation for a psychology class at my uni, and I need lots of data because social psychology is real fun that way.
In any case, I thought an interesting way to get some participants would be to make giveaways, so here I am!
The survey itself is pretty simple to fill out, completely anonymous, and should take under 20 minutes to complete.
To motivate you, I've got a little giveaway train at the end which contains a handful of games I personally think are great!
Here's a link to the survey: <survey is closed>
If you've got the time, I'd really appreciate it if a few of you would fill out the survey. :) It would really help me out!
EDIT:
Hello everyone!
The survey and giveaways have ended, I've had the fun of trying to sort out problems with SPSS and finish the report, and now I am able to let you all know how you did. :)
Now, please note that I was not able to use absolutely all of the responses collected. Some were obvious trolls, for example. But you guys really gave me a lot (and I mean a LOT) of data to work with, so it was really a pleasure to analyse.
As a reminder, my hypotheses were:
Here are some bar charts from my report: http://imgur.com/57dOLa8
In the end, profession and personality were the most influential variables, with profession only very slightly in the lead. I noticed an interesting interaction between these two variables, so I explored it in Figure 2, where you can see personality being the main factor when it comes to the first two professions, but the last profession evidently... had some low scores all around. haha
Finally, sexual orientation had no significant effect, statistically speaking. I was personally pleased to be proven wrong. :)
Thanks again everyone for helping out, and also for your helpful comments. I made sure to remember them when writing how the study could be improved. Next time (if there is a next time on here) I'll try to make the survey more interesting. :P
